Well, after just under a year I am back looking for an MR2 - I am looking for a really good car in terms of bodywork and mechanicals - hoping to find a good nick supercharger for a fair price, although an NA car would be fine. Looking for low miles.
Anyone know of any that haven't made it on to pistonheads/autotrader/ebay?
Cheers!

Thanks, I didn't know you could still import them. I've still got to ring the insurance company up and talk to them about using an import as an everyday car.....that could be funny!

Try the classic insurance companies, an imort supercharged AW11 doesnt cost that much than an N/a for me.
Re: Where to find a supercharger?
I was in same situation couple of weeks ago. I reckoned it was too expensive to import, what with cars costing £4K then say another £2K ship, pay tax and get on the road. Then when it arrives you've got to rectify things not right, if they exist. There's some paperwork and bit of delay involved in getting it over.
I'd suggest ebay. I bought one there a couple of weeks ago. You may have to wait to get the right spec. at the right price ...and you'll be up against other bidders. As you know automatic cars aren't as easy to sell. Most sought after are tin top manuals with lsd. If you manage to get one at a good price you'll have funds for restoration.
Sometimes reserve prices are just set too high. Last week a Super Edition manual was on ebay but a £2K bid didn't hit reserve ...so everyone lost interest. It closed with no futher bids at all.

Thanks I'll keep a look out on ebay then. Maybe he'll re-list super edition.

maybe worth trying to contact him via ebay
Re: Where to find a supercharger?
Aha, that's the one. He's obviously keen to sell.
Re: Where to find a supercharger?
Thanks again.....I'll try and get in touch with him. I am a little worried about the rust coming through on the roof though. That could mean its pretty nasty inside the roof - might be worth the price if it is ok everywhere else though...

That add is a bit miss leading IMO, He used to have it advertised as no rust just look at the rust stains on the mudflaps, But he has changed listing, I think a member from here or the mk1 club has looked at this car but it at the time the seller wanted nearer £4k for it and from what I was told it was worth no where near that amount SE or not, He has been trying to sell for months.
Mk1b White T-bar SC 1987, Mk1b White coupe Jan90, Mk1b White coupe Jan90 (spares), Mk1b Mica blue T-bar Mar90, Mk1b Mica blue T-bar,full climate control,Jan90, 5 mk1's

Yeah, I think I'll be leaving this one. Hopefully I can obtain the blue one on the mr2mk1club site.

Re: Where to find a supercharger?
One thing you have to consider about importing yourself from Japan, little or no rust! then underseal when you get it here, and no rusty bodywork for 5 years (estimate)

Have you had your quote for this year yet ?
( I literally sold my SC a month ago ), but got the renewal in this week anyway... just under £600, for 40 year old, limited mileage, full no claims, garaged, 3rd car etc... thats nearly double the previous years quote, and is thro an import specialist...
lessened the pain of being without my SC.. a little...
Definately get some quotes before you buy !
Re: Where to find a supercharger?
Then it could prove a little too painful on a cost/benefit ratio....don't mind the overall quote. The Porsche was £700 for me this year so hoping the price will be less than that!
Re: Where to find a supercharger?
Yep, directline want the equivalent of 1500 to insure me....they say they have a sliding risk scale from 11 to 99....the supercharger is 87!
