Congratulations to Simon Hicks.
At a damp Brighton Speed Trials yesterday, with a time of 11.42 seconds 1/4 mile, 64ft 2.0 seconds and terminal speed of 130mph, Simon walked away with:
1st - Roadgoing Production & Specialist Cars over 2001cc
1st - Brighton & Hove Motor Club Members Handicap Event
Class Record of 8 years beaten by more than 0.5 second
A cracked block 8 weeks ago, and a collapsed turbo bearing a week ago did not make for a relaxed build up to the event, but we got him there with our latest 2.2 stroker. Thanks to his Dad for all the cups of tea, and RyanG for mapping.
Well done Simon!!!!

Re: Simon Hicks Grabs 3 1sts At Brighton Speed Trials!
Thankyou Peter.!
I also walked away with the sole of my left race boot hanging off, causing me to walk a bit odd! Which alot of people noticed when the awards were being presented..
I never ever thought I would come away with a result like this, so I'm still very much
The course is very unforgiving, being actual public road owned by the council, you can imagine what the surface is like.
But the event is run by the some of the most enthusiastic ,friendly people your likely to meet..
Brian and Martin Who do the commentary for the cars have known me for many years now, and they give me plenty of banter every year.
I've lost count how many times they have made the crowds of people laugh at my expense.. (including informing the crowd that I was once Alain Prost's hairdresser). and I thought the stig got banter from Clarkson!.
But it's great!.. I enjoy it. I feel even more a part of it that way!. And thanks to peter, I've not missed out on the most important day of the year for my dad and I.

Congratulations Simon - awesome results
After hearing briefly about your pre-competition car problems from Peter I can only imagine that it must make your success taste even sweeter

Thankyou
And for some certain donor parts ..! much Appreciated!
What also makes it sweeter, is that I've spent about 2-3 hours behind the wheel this year, And that's just normal motorway driving, I didn't do any practice of any kind at all outside the event.
