How did you repair your heater pipe problem? I am currently experience the heate pipe problem so I need to figure out the best way to repair them.

My offside pipe was weaping so I removed all covers around area and using a 1 metre flexible drill extension and a dremel cutting disc,I cut it just below the bracket where it cracked. Will need a wiggle aswell as the disc may not go all the way through.

19.1mm heater hose from hafords and a joiney thing for the hoses and 2 litres of neat red antifreeze from a factors (half the price of toyota)

Still a piggy job,but easier than running hoses full lengh or dropping the tank, works fine and done about 600 miles since including a rr day and all is good.

Whats the difference between the 185 and 205 chargecoolers?

So just to drag up an old thread rather than start a new one.

Mines a rev2 turbo, still with the paperhead gasket running .9 bar with apexi, and japspeed still with cat,and controlled by a gizzmo ibc, 242 bhp at .8 bar.

Is it worth a fitting an xs power jobbie interwarmer as I've no plans to up the boost any further as I don't want to go to the hassle of a rev3 headgasket.

Or shall I save pennies and do the decat route, or just not bother due to lowish boost plans

i fitted a XS power intercooler and a WI kit and from the figures i have seen on here my inlet temps are quite low compared to a chargecooler

22 degrees ambient = 33 degrees maximum intake temp after mapping for 2 hours, without WI the intake temps hit 60's within about 8 seconds of WOT on a 3071 at 1.2bar on stock engine

ST205 CC All the way Shorter distance between turbo and inlet = more response :D :thumleft:

Sounds like much grief for an engine thats not going above .9 bar though.

Cheers for the reply TFS,but still unsure of why I should do uprated intercooler. I know intake temp will be lower but on my setup do I really need it,or is it just me being a sheep and following the pack :?

Maybe I'm being a thickie but if I stick at .9 and go intercooler/decat then I will be turning down the spool time (is it gain or the other one) to stop it spiking, which defeats the object of the whole game.

Please somebody tell me I'm wrong and fitting a bigger cooler will do something fantastic without compromising the reliability of the engine.
I'm more of an acceleration type of guy so prolonged high speed stuff is not my thing O:) (like my licence too much, and plod round here are sneeky.)

TBH for cool intake on that spec just a WI kit would do very well, i dont think the cheap intercoolers make that much of a difference

Sorry to thread steal but i have a Celica GT4 st205 Chargecooler setup for sale at the moment. Its not like the ones you get off ebay just off a celica gt4 where you need to get extra bits made. Its got the sock and all the bits for the mr2 setup. The only thing missing is the cinquecento pre rad (as the one i got was like a colander). Comes with brand new piping to the pre-rad. yours for £175 collected. But i am willing to sort out postage....

Boswelox.

On a warm day with spirited driving the ECU will pull back the boost as the stock IC heatsoaks when the car is stationary.

You will not have that issue with an ST205CC.

Yes its more hassle than fitting an upgraded SMIC, but that hassle is repaid in stable intake temps and increased response.
