Is there a Difference in the lenght of stock front & rear coil springs?

Post by monstr2 »

My car is a 3SGE,REV3,UK spec,mfd 1994, model.
The konis struts (rear) i have just bought are
longer in lenght by 1-1/2"(inches) than the presently fitted struts.
What could the reason be? Is there a difference in the lenght of stock
front & rear springs? I had bought the car preowned.
The mechanic suggests fitting spacers on the coil springs.
Is this safe considering i do a lot of high speed driving?
Somebody please advise as it will be $800 down the drain
if i cant fit them. :(

The front and rear struts are very different, the springs are different too:

The wide fat spring are front, the thin taller springs are rear.

Yeah, its the same in my car i.e wide in front and thin
at the back but if the rear konis are longer than the front konis,
would the rear springs be longer too?

If the rear springs are shorter in lenght
than standard and the strut is standard
size , the top mount would not seat on
the spring when you tighten it.
It remains suspended .Am i right ?
