Just got my compulsory warning triangle, dipped beam deflectors, hi-vis jacket and GB sticker through the post
Insurance company notified, EHIC obtained and euro breakdown cover arranged.
Now I just need to get through a week of bloody exams then service the car and change the gearbox oil and driveshaft seals and I'm good to go!

What deal did you get for Euro Breakdown??
Best offers I've seen online £59
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insura ... ecovery#eu
But reading the policy detail there, they only recover 20 miles to the nearest garage - sounds more like an 'Insurance Policy' rather than an actual tie up with a recovery service!
Advantage is that they cover cars up to 20 years old, and you can change car during the policy
Alternatively there is th ringers favourite ADAC 79Euro (£67)
Gets you full service in the UK via AA,
and despite them saying they won't recover to the UK if the cost is greater than the vehicle... Just argue and they will (A friend had his race prepped ~D reg Nova recovered from Ring to UK)

Tesco if your car is young enough. They resell Green Flag but cheaper.
IMOC-UK - the only club to win 'Best Club Stand' at JAE more than once, and twice in a row!
Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
£33.31 from the AA - I'm a member already so get a discount plus there's 'up to 30%' discount online at the moment - would have been £47.58 full price.
It covers recovery to the UK or onward to your destination (if less than the value of the car), alternative travel arrangements, emergency accommodation, roadside assistance, location and dispatch of spare parts and legal

Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
Depends on age, but Sky Insurance offer a package, its about £90.00 and covers breakdown, roadside, home start etc and european breakdown. I am going with that.
Everyone else says my car is too old.

Just looked at the policy - it seems to think my MR2 is only 4 years old for some reason?? They didn't ask for the age at any point during the application, just the registration number.
Looks like that was an unfeasibly good deal then. ar$e.
Will have to give them a call tomorrow to find out the real cost and probably get my money back. Will have a looksie at that ADAC policy - ta Paul

Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
I think I found a winner - £59 for up to 90 days European cover, 21 days in any one trip. Includes UK cover for 12 months too. Cars up to 20 years old
http://www.quotelinedirect.co.uk/breakdown/
The cover looks a bit sketchy as far as labour costs go, but they do UK repatriation. Will have a better look tomorrow when I've had the real cost back from the AA

THAT is the one I linked to (through another website so you knew where I got it from)
Reading the policy sounds like a pay-then-claim policy
What was worrying is the recovery to a mechanic of their choice within 20 miles.... Not recovery home at your request.
Read the bit about breakdown on a European Motorway...
"Use the phones, Get recovered t oa garage, then call us"
I think you would only get re-repatriation if the car was un-drivable, and then you may have to argue it's value.
Like I said, better have one that is through or in partnership with an actual roadside company!
FWIW.... I'm going the ADAC route.
Single person cover 79.50 EUR,
You & Partner cover 98.70 EUR
Covers UK and Europe, No problem being transported back from the Ring
And it covers YOU not the car.
I'll let you know how I get on Tomorrow
Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
So it was as sketchy as it appeared at first glance then
Will probably follow suit with the ADAC if it seems OK

Is there a concrete plan for meeting up on the Friday? Just need to know people's intentions so I can look at a route across in the morning as I am going to drive to drive over early.

I am suggesting a Meal at The British Raj, Sittingbourne

Just because it is my Favourite Curry Venue...
See "Banquet Nights" top right of the web page.
I'll be back in Kent by 6pm...
So the time to meet up is really down to you lot

+1 for that ^^^
I just called the AA to amend the European breakdown cover and they said 'Sorry for the mistake, there will be no extra charge'

Polo shirts ordered.
I went online to get my euro breakdown with the AA where i am also a member. It came out at £46.
I rang them and went through the motions and they quoted at £59??
I stated that the price on the web was cheaper and they said they were having 'technical problems' with the online site and offered to honour the price.
Still totally different from your price John????
Warning Triangle - Check
Dip beam thingies - Check
Bulb Kit - Check
Hi vis vest - Check
1st Aid kit - Check

Re: Duderstadt, Germany - 30th July > 1st August. IMOC attendance!
I think the problem was that their system checked the 'date of first registration' from the DVLA rather than the year of manufacture - mine was imported in 2005 so it thought it was only 4 years old.
Having stuck your reg in here Scott: http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPor ... =link.next
Yours was imported in 2001 so that probably accounts for the discrepancy. (BTW - your tax disc expires while you're away )

The Shell services at J11 on the M20 are probably the best bet - can all top up before the ferry if required then. It's about 20 mins or less from Dover.
Meet to depart the services by 04:45? The latest check-in is 05:25 so we probably shouldn't leave it much later.
