Was a superb trip and the race weekend itself simply fantastico !!

Would be great to get loads more MR2's back there like we used to a few years ago. Le Mans has to be experienced at least once so why put it off any longer, get your names down.

Feel free to ask any questions as we have now been doing this trip for 10 successful years. Some usefull information.

When is it? Roughly its the same tme each year, we estimate the race will be 11th - 12th June so the trip will be 6th - 13th with the option of a bolt on trip to Rouen. These dates can be tailored to suit yourself, for example you can arrive on the Thursday and leave Sunday after the race.

Travel? Roughly the ferry from Dover - Boulogne is £40 return if you book early and then its 230 miles to Le Mans via Rouen and the A28 toll road.

Accommodation? Camping at Le Chateau De Chanteloup in Sille-le-Philippe about 15 minutes drive to circuit du 24 heures, price is roughly £70 per persn for the 6 nights

Le Mans race package? tickets are about £62 for a pass which includes Wednesday practice, Thursday qualifying, pit walk and the weekend 24 hour race itself, a parking ticket can be obtained usually from the chateau if pre booked for about £30. I highly reccomend you buy a grandstand seat for the weekend as it gets very busy, this years event saw 232000 people attend !!

Bolt on trip? looking to visit Rouen for a couple of days city break ( hotel )

Seriously this si the best MR2 event on the planet and the whole experience needs to be tasted, make 2011 your year to finally live the dream of seeng the Le Mans 24 hour with a difference.

Get your names down, I'll be your trip advisor and Deb Watson will be event manager.

Cheers

As a ballpark figure, I think we all decided that we'd spent roughly £500 a head (based on a 2 seater car) for *everything*, including petrol, ferries, entry tickets, hotels, food, etc. Well worth it.

John, good to see you will be attending next years event along with Nanna Thom.

Anyone got any good pics of this years event we can add to wet the appetite?

Debs gonna easily need 3 pitches, possibly 4 this year. FYI 1 pitch accommodates 5 people, let us know early so Debs can organise pitches with the chateau.

Just to add, are we going for the Premier Inn stay in Dover ( A20 ) on the Monday night of the 6th for the pre Le Mans party.

This year we only paid £29 for a double room, the hotel is 5 minutes from the port of Dover and has a Beefeater restaurant next door, ideal for our party celebrations, oooo and next door to that is SVA imports, spent a good 20 minutes this year drooling over their cars!

John about spot on and that included a lot of beer, eh John !

Tickets £62
Parking £30
Ferry £40
Le Mans party Hotel £29
Meal £25
Tolls £40
Chateau £65 assuming 5 people share 1 pitch
Petrol roughly for MR2 return from Dover £120
Food / beer is completely down to the individual, roughly £100 per person, some items like cooking oil and butter we usually share.

We have over the years built up some useful items, we have already there stored away at the chateau

3 BBQ's
3 Gazebo's
2 x large tables
A few deckchairs

For 2011 I've decided to travel to Dover on the Sunday and sail on the Monday arriving at the chateau 3pm Monday afternoon, therefore I'll have an extra day pre race, just to fit everything in as we want to go to the zoo, visit St Bernard and attend the St Saturin car show on the Friday as well as pit walk.

Is everyone ok with this or should we do this ourselves??

Yeah that would be great but its all dependant on work, it usually gets busy round LeMans time so I cant always get away for a full week. I could always hop on the same ferry and convoy down with you all tho.
Ill defo be going for dunlop grandstand seats again and the kangaroo tv as it was only 55 euros for the weekend!
As for Rouen I would be into seeing that but every year I always take a wrong turn off the mway and end up smack bang in the middle of it haha!
Looking forward to next year already! Ill 100% be in the mr2, just awaiting the modded gearbox and Im away.

Dan,

Did you pre book the Kanga TV or just buy it on the day, 55 euros is a fantastic price for what you get, definately worth having it to keep up with the race and commentry.

We stopped in Rouen on way home for lunch, really nice city, need to explore more so going back next year.
