mk2-turbo / advice on redline water wetter please.

Post by RENOFOXX »

I will be going on a 200 mile road trip on Friday which will be mainly motorway miles ! I want to add redline water wetter to my coolant system
but don't want to risk creating air bubbles in the system.Has anyone got any tips on how to do this? eg. would it work if i were to add it via the expansion tank instead of the rad cap? thanx.

Why would you need to add that? You should be using Toyota Forlife coolant in your engine, done.
We ALL make mistakes !!! :)

good point ! had a few overheating probs with the pipes from hell when i first had the car and had to replace the coolant a few times and had to use a coolant from halfords because toyota parts dept was closed over the christmas holidays last year and haven't had a chance to replace it.

Don't bother, the Toyota coolant contains a surfactant which is all water wetter is.

halfords pre mix will be fine in there.

just top the wetter through the rad cap, it wont/shouldnt take much anyway to get air bubbles, it'll always go down a set amount if you fill it to the top due to expansion, so maybe if not all will go in, add it over a few warm up cool down cycles.

what does this wetter stuff do exactly?

Its a surfactant, its stops air bubbles forming in the coolant system by lowering the surface tension of a liquid.

thanks for the replies chaps! I will go for adding a small amount over a week of warm up and cool down cycles.
