[Mk2] [Turbo] Engine Lid Cable Seized

Post by bottomendgone »

Hi gents

I'm attempting to gain access to my engine bay by the usual means (pully behind the drivers seat), however the cable appears to have seized and won't open the lid.

Can you recommend an alternative route into the engine bay? I believe there is a release catch in the boot somewhere, but I can't find it. :(

Cheers

There is no secondary release lever, only the one in the cockpit.

Try removing the lever assembly (think you may have to remove the interior panel too, isn't hard) and grip the cable with a pair of pliers and then give it a good hard yank. It should pop the engine cover then..

Failing that I seem to remember, a long time ago, someone mentioning that you can get sufficient access to the mechanism once you've popped the boot lid. Might be worth a try?

Thanks for the reply mate.

My uncle (a mechanic) was able to access it by popping something in and around the interior of the boot a while back, but I'm unable to find it.
