speedo problem

Post by IanB »

Hi, i got a set of lockwood dial faces, (the ones that you dont have to remove the needles to fit). What happened??? needle came off the speedo!! Can anyone tell me how to get the needle back in the right place, it is reading about 15MPH out according to the flashing speed signs 8-[

May be a stupid question but the new dial face that you put on were an exact swap in respect of the top speed? Like you havnt taken a 110mph face off and put a 160mph one on to replace it? And is your car an import/have you changed km to miles etc? If it is the needle in the wrong place you will need to just keep plucking it off and replacing it until it seems ok, trial and error, unless anyone knows exactly where to plonk it on to get it right first time.

i had the exact same problem, i removed the plasic cover and the needle on the offending dial and drove along a nice straight private section of road with the gps on and got to 30mph, then gently pressed the needle back on, took a few tries go get it perfect (the weight of the needle tends to make it drop down so you have to put it at say, 33mph to compensate) then compared the speedo and gps from 10 - 70mph
