[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo shaft????

Post by IanB »

Hi, after fitting an engine into my car and eventually getting it running, although not idling properly, i decicded to take a quick spin down the road. turns out, it wasnt exactly quick, i was getting no boost from the turbo. After taking it off again i looked at the the fins (should have checked first), I found that one corner was broken off a fin on the cold side and most of the fins were broken off on the hot side. i have found a shaft on ebay says it s for a celica ct26, will it be the same, i cant find a part number on my turbo. Or is there an upgrade kit, if so where can i get one. or is it better to bin it and get another one. (limited budget :( ). any help or advice would be much appreciated. Ian

Does the shaft you're watching include the compressor and exhaust wheels? I would've thought it were just a shaft...

You could do worse than to contact Bob: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=123526

The photo looks right for what you want but you have to make sure they are selling the shaft and comp wheel together. You also need to check what the shipping cost will be, that may well be the same amount as the shaft. Once you have the parts you will also need new bearings and seals then it will all have to be balanced and that will cost you £100 or so.

I would look for an undamaged turbo and have new seals and bearings fitted, I can do this for £150 + postage

Rev3 and Rev2 are different BUT I believe it's a straight swap and the rev3 one boosts better to the red line so can only be an upgrade :thumleft:
