[Mk2] [Generic] Recaro seat install

Post by Race Idiot »

So i've gotten pretty fedup of the standard seats supportiveness and i've always wanted a recaro speed recliner as I dont think I can cope with a fixed bucket in day to day use.

Currently I have a bride drivers side bracket

The seat I am looking for is here
http://www.recaro-seats.co.uk/sport-sea ... -speed.php

The seat is meant to be bottom mount, so am I missing anything out here? I mean even if the bracket I have isnt a perfect match i'm assuming it shouldnt be too hard to modify it to accept the seat?

Also if anyone has a Recaro Speed or SR they want to sell (not in red tho) i'd be interested as I keep getting out bid on all the ones on e-bay

Is that picture of your runner from the top? Looks very similar to my runners except that it's missing the seat belt bracket and the back brackets are bent up.

TBH the Bride / Recaro runners seem very simple for what they charge, they're thin flat bar steel welded together so if itcomes to it you can get that from BnQ for a few quid and get someone to weld it in.

I got Speeds from the same place as you linked (mine are red though LoL) and if i recall there's 4 or 6 bolts which hold them down underneath -I'm not near the car to check. They're fantastic seats for comfort and support -you wont regret fitting one.

They are upside down there I think, rightways up there is a bit of metal with a bolthole that looks like it would be for the seatbelt clip.

This is the thing i'm confused about realy, what does the runner do? Because the whole bracket assembly already slides back and forth and there are holes which it looks like where the bolts from a seat would fit.

the runner will bolt straight onto the floor pan and allows the seat to move backwards/forwards , the recaros have 4-6 holes in the bottoms of them and these should bolt straight onto the bride rail using either 6mm or 8mm bolts (cannot remember)

How much lower does fitting a bucket seat make the driver compared to standard seats?
