Can of worms...POP...open :) Best 'sounding' BOV valve pleeaasseeee!

Post by darrenmr2 »

Hey guys...

Have approx £100 to spend on a second hand BOV, but want the best sounding one. Something quite loud with a distinctive sound/flutter. Ideas on a post card please! :thumleft:

Are the Forge motorsport ones any good?? (as they are £120 ish new on ebay) Think GreddyMatt had one who i bought my Apexi ind.kit off. Oh yeah, car is a 1995 Rev 3 Tubby with MBC set @ 1 bar, Apexi ind.kit and Revision 6 Exhaust.

Thanks in advance people :thumleft:

I checked this out recently using an awesome-o-meter and the HKS SSQV came out tops with a reading of 18.2 Chucks (on the Norris scale) .

Using the exact same awesome-o-meter and the SARD R2D2 came out tops for me...!

Maybe they need calibrating... :-k

the Hks with no fin does sound good, think the blitz one gives off a fluttery type sound, whick i like, apexi one is just a big woosh niose, muck like the stock recirc withe recirc pipe pulled off, i've heard an arc one too, fluttery but not all that loud, although it may have just been the car it was on, baileys sounds not too bad, bit more subtle than most(on my car at least) :thumleft:

I've got a blitz on mine and it makes a nice chuff noise, not too loud. I had a greddy before and it was way too loud and chavy. The std recirc setup had a nice sound to it also.

If I get another one I want an arc, or a sheepdog prof one.

Ive pulled the pipe on the std recirc valve to make it a bit louder but it sounds like a bus air brake now lol... Anyone had any experiences with the Forge motorsport BOV?

From the above and looking at what people have i think the HKS SSQV is a good contender....

Whats the sound like with no fin in the SSQV as opposed to the purple one?

Surely any flutter you are getting means its not doing its job and opening good enough to let the air perssure out?

Anyway, I loved the SSQV, shame my cars a Rev2 so went back to recirc.

More of a air wooshing sound compared to the whistling higher pitched noise with the fin.

The Greddy Type R is the best for doing the job they are designed for, that is the most important thing.

The sound should not matter.

I have had a blitz DD which sounded ace. Got a Greedy Type S which sounds good but i run it in recirc mode.

For me this hands down sounds the best

Tial Bov. I love the sound of it. Shame the lads car is playing up lol.

I quite like my noise. No BOV! nice compressor stall noise every time, won't do turbo many favours but it'll do for me! Lol

I've got one of these but I don't think it's working too well as I get loads of flutter, even when the adjuster is fully out. Has anyone ever stripped one to fix? Is it easy?
