for those with leather seats????

Post by jimGTS »

whats the best stuff to use to bring them back to life and look like new!
just bought some seats and door cards from a mr2 owner, and they are top notch.
just want something to make them look even better!!

i looked around a few places, and all i could find was this cream coloured stuff for leather seats and upholstery. but im not to comfortable putting a creamy coloured liquid on a black leather seat!!

are there any black products i can buy, and where from????

I have seen a product called liquid leather mentioned on here before that is supposed to work magic for restoring and preserving the seats.

I was going to try some of that but i'm just going to wait and fit some new aftermarket seats when i can afford.

I use the autoglym leather cleaner, followed by the leather care. Seems to do the job.

like i said tho mate, to start with, i dont want to put a creamy coloured liquid on.
i want a pure black first, to inhance the look.
then the conditioners and all that.

ps, theres another post with my leather seat pics.

Don't worry about the colour. I use white polish on my black MR2 and it doesn't make it fade

The autoglym cleaner is good too, or the meguirs leather stuff. Just like polish down to personal taste. My mate swears by colour magic but I cannot get on with it at all, super resin or gold class for me.

i didnt like the fact when reading on the back of these "creamy" coloured leather restorer things, that it said you should be aware tat it may ruin/change the shading on your leather, and to test on a small patch first.
id rather not risk it.
least with black, i cant go wrong.

just my 2p tho, im sure its works well for others.

Have a read on ya wax and other stuff. "Test on a small inconspicous area first". Get out clause bet that other stuff says that on the back too! Remember its a dye so you need to match the colour carefully.

Yeah, my seats have a couple of minor marks in. Thought about using a dye, but scared me the fact it is just that........a dye. It's kinda permanent if it's the wrong colour :(
