HOW ABOUT JUST CALL THE SECTION SOMETHING ELSE?????

cant think of anything off the top of me head, but if it wasnt called Vs, then maybe you would get different sort of posts on there!

just an idea?

Or even just remove the actual road-racing stories and move on on theoretical matching (or not) of various cars on the track, drag strip, etc.

Another idea would be to make it the official home of the infamous "Turbo Vs N/A" and "Mk1 Vs Mk2" threads. :D
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

personally I suspect most of the stories are completely made up and the rest are bigged up to sound more interesting.

Road racing is stupid, end of (but we still engage in the odd tussle)

On the Supra forum we have:

"The spirited driving chronicles" where you can "Share stories of your driving experiences" - it's members only.

On my forum I have "Driving Stories" - it currently holds a real epic about an MR2 going to the shop ;)

"Vs" gives the wrong impression, a simple change could open the section up to general tales of experiences on the road, rants about people cutting you up and so on....

Well said. And far more sensible. There are lots of great driving tales, scenic drives to go on, challenging roads etc....

So maybe what we need as a name change and active moderation of that one forum. We could delete threads that encourage stupid driving and PM the user and ask them nicely to not post that type of stuff?

Personally I take them all other a large pinch of salt but at the same time do not want the site to appear to have a section that promotes stupid driving.

I think that would pacify everyone, and maybe discourage the stupid 100mph+ stories.....

Hmmn, so would people be happy with a name and 'ethos' change or do we need a quick poll on whether to delete or not.

Personally, I'd be happy with a title such as "Driving Tales" which would cover all aspects and a note of what isn't allowed to discourage the idiots....

This is always a HUGE debate....

.. at the end of the day its not down to the car, ok we all own 1 (hence we're here) but we don't all street race.

It comes down to the drivers, I consider myself a "safe" driver, but this doesn't mean I just drive around to pose. I drive the car quickly - but it will depend on the circumstances and where I am - say on a motorway etc.

As for people who race (or speed) in 30mph zones outside schools and housing estates they need to grow up and realise you don't have to drive at 100mph everywhere... as theres no point.

But whether these people have a MR2, Scooby or Nova.. they are still going to do it, the power of the car just makes it harder to control, hence accidents happen. So its up to the individual to actually contemplate this, and whether or not they could deal with killing someone else... I know I couldn't.

I personally think that there should be a separate driving test for higher powerful cars - similar to the bike tests. Ie you have to drive a small power car for 2yrs or until your 21 etc. I reckon this would stop a lot of "younger" boy racer types getting their hands on affordable performance cars, seeing as banks are quite happy to throw loans at them!

OK Esmond is going to change the section as soon as he can, so I guess any suggestions of name and points to go into a sticky are in order.

See members can make a difference if they ask! :D

I would like the section to stay.
Think its a great idea to change the title though!

And also delete any stupid driving stories.

I think changing the name could be a good idea.
Although please remember this was the section that first provided the phrase 'professional driving stiles'
