Instument panel

Post by mister2mk1 »

Hi

Hope you can help....

During my vehicles restoration (over 3 years!!) I appear to have misplaced my instrument panell.... :(

I have sold the original blue interior (assuming I sold the instrument panel and all the switches too...) and purchased a very good black leather interior which obviously didnt come with a instrument panel.....

I have aquired a panel from the internet but it all seems a bit odd....

Can any one confirm whether there was 2 or more different types??

the one I have purchased seems to have a few differences than I was expecting....

My headlight switch has a black wheel on it but the cut out on this panel (circled RED) is on the opposite side.... Also can anyone tell me what the 3 YELLOW circled areas are for??? I thought the back right one was for the dash light dimmer but no idea about the other two???? ](*,) :( :( :(

PLEASE HELP - Im pulling my hair out!

Rear right one is for the 'door open' light. The other two yellow ones are for the warning lights for the foglights and heated rear window, and are next to where the relevant switches go ( if the car has them fitted - my import SC hasn't got the foglight one, just a blank ).

I'm as puzzled as you about the dimmer - I think even the LHD cars have the lights on the same side as RHD ones ( edit did any of the cars have variable intermittent wipe ? )

the dimmer slot isn't fully pushed through on the ones with that bit, you can see on this pic

I think the far left one maybe an aftermarket alarm led

This is what I think too.
The warning light for foglight is in the dash, and the indicator for the rear screen elements is incorporated in the button - at least this is the case on my '89 Mk1b.

On mine, the one on the far right is actually blanked and has no hole... :-s

Red circle is normally blanked, nothing there. Both yellow circles on the front are the same (blanked and not used) Inner yellow circle is a light that meant to illuminate the ignition switch when the door is open.
The dash light dimmer is the wheel behind the headlight switch (slot same as the red circle but on the right hand side)
There are 2 different dashboards for the 1a and 1b, only slight differences, one of them being the early cars didn't have a dash light dimmer.
this is a 1988 dash

looks like that could be an early dash you have in the your pic

Hi,
Previously I found some picture about cleaning this white dust from the interior door handle, but I can't find it anywhere now.
Are there anybody who knows where it is?
Anybody done the same cleaning? I just don't know which material should I use for it.
Thanks.

I scratched mine with my nail until it went all smooth and black again... It was free, but it took a while!
