'98/R Rev 4, MR2 GT T-Bar...Uk Car...57k miles! Now with more photos...

Post by DV54 »

Right, i got made redundant in january, and having zero luck on the job front; so if the joblessness persists for a while then unfortunately i may have to sell my car.

The basics:
1998, R reg, Mr2 GT T-Bar in Super Red
56k miles (service history & old MOT's to prove) but the car gets driven most days, so it'll change but not drastically
4 prev. owners (will double check this over the weekend, but i believe i'm the 5th)
Full unmarked black leather interior with IMOC floormats
MOT expires October 2010 (zero advisories on the last test)
Tax expires end of April 2010

Car is in excellent condition, spent 4 months trying to find a good one after i sold my CTR before i bought this one in October last year!

Has got an induction kit fitted (Blitz i believe), was on the car when i bought it.
Original wheels have been refurbished in grey by SMC in Sunderland by the previous owner, and are still completely unmarked

Since i bought the car i've fitted the following:
Turbo engine cover c/w rain tray
Tom's sideskirts (although these are getting removed next week and will be for sale seperately)

Cambelt is being changed on Monday 8th March, along with new pulley, tensioner & new alternator belt.

I've probably missed things, so will update as i go, will also add pics over the weekend (can also email pics if anyone would like some higher res ones)

Cheers
Simon :thumleft:

these are the only decent worthwhile pics i have currently...cant get any interior pics as its been raining all day; but you can get the general idea of the car from these ones.
i'll endeavour to get some proper pics next week as its forecast to be sunny so i'll probably get to wash the car again :D

previous owner was a traffic copper from houghton-le-spring (co.durham) yes...but didnt get it from south shields, bought it from a garage slightly more north on the other side of the river!

ideally i'd want more than 3k for it, as i paid more than 3k for it for the reasons youve detailled above; but knowing what the market is like, and the bother i had trying to get market value for my CTR then i dont realistically expect to get what its truly worth...having said that, i may be wrong!

yeah its defo the one i wanted cos it the same wheels trd badges and had blitz badge on it aswell. listen dont sell this car its amazin class car and tbh rare like that if you have to just dont use it or put it off road. yeah place that had it before you had a aston martin there and after the bank never give me the loan for it he tried to get a finance deal for me just i knew i wouldnt get it cos car over 10 years old and i only got fire and theft third partie insurance. i just couldnt get the car. its amazin this i never thought id see this car again but i have now. its good to see it in good hands :thumleft: :thumleft:

thanks bud :thumleft:

yeah used to have a trd badge on each side, and a blitz one on the front...but they were tacky and faded so they were the first to come off...also had a tacky interior aluminium look kit on the dashboard components...so ive replaced the entire dashboard trim bits

unfortunately, i have bills to pay, so if it gets to the end of april and i'm still jobless then i may have no further choice (plus my insurance renewal is in june); tis a lovely car to drive though, cant fault it at all!

oh, and since youre local...if you join japnortheast and go to a meet, you may get to see it again  haha

Nice Car Simon. I can see you've looked after her.

Very slightly over my budget, hope things work out for you and you can hang on to your car.

I'd give you £2800 for it tomorrow, which i think is a fair price. I think these cars are a little overpriced by the owners club. Not that its not worth every penny just not many people have the cash to throw about and those that do will get a tubby for the same price. Could do with some pics of the engine bay and interior, PM me, but only if your really interested in selling!!

Hi timmy, thanks for the interest and offer; if it turns out i have to sell then i'll definitely be in touch with more pics and we can have a chat.

with regard to the pricing, i take your point about people being able to get a tubby for the same price...but theyre 2 very different cars, not to mention that uk non-turbo's (normally) come with a full history, something which isnt too common on the tubby's ive been to look at in the past. i guess its down to personal preference really, and the buyer finding the right car; as low mileage clean examples with history are becoming rather thin on the ground now

cheers

Yep sorry been looking for a while and getting a little annoyed with people not budging on silly asking prices. Not seen many as nice as this though looks really well cared for. I think one of the problems is that people love them and have invested so much they dont want to let them go cheap. I would definately be interested if you need to sell.

yeah i know what you mean; spent ages looking at crap cars that people wanted good money for...was originally looking for a turbo myself before this came up for sale literally a mile from my house, so i was fortunate in that respect.
plus not forgetting that if you buy a good car thats had good money spent on it & been looked after and maybe pay slightly more for it; it'll probably cost u less in the long run anyway.
but yeah, dont get me wrong, i love my car, admittedly i'd prefer a tubby, but as things stand if it can be helped i dont want to have to sell her; but in the current climate i guess you never know!

where abouts are you based anyway?

continue this chat via pm if you prefer!

cheers
