Hi all,
Rocker cover gasket is leaking, how much for part and how long will it take to change, also do you need to remove the engine to change the gearbox oil
Cheers
You don't need to remove the engine to change the gear box oil,
Rocker cover gasket kits can be had from Rogue or GTS chris / Fensport etc for around £40 you'll need sealant as well for the cam shoulders on the cover, throttle body needs to be removed to gain proper access and don't over tighten the bolts the covers go brittle over time and are prone to cracking.
Don't even think about shot blasting the cover when it's off, quickest way to wreck your engine.
Thanks for the reply.
I can't believe the garage were I take most of the cars I've owned said it is an engine out job to change the oil, I didn't believe it myself when they told me and now I definitely don't.
Maybe he was getting confused because I did mention to him that I wanted the diff oil changed, their is a whine coming from that area that's why I asked about both.
The whine disappears when I depress the clutch, changing gear when cold is notchy especially from 1st to second, but after a few miles the changes are fine.
I've heard the redline mt-90 oil sorts this notchiness out, has anyone on here used it and how many quarts will I need?
Cheers
