Peter at Sbits recommended Millers to me, so that's what I have.

There appears to be a significant difference in viscosity between their Royal Purple 5w30 and the 'Other Brand'
Just look at how the oil behaves when the motor is first turned on with an unloaded bearing.

My car has run the last 5 years or so on Comma Motorsport 5w-50 with a 'Comma flushing Oil' flush every 3~4 changes.

~170,000 miles now on the clock,
125,000 of those are mine in the last 10 years of ownership.
And they are Not motorway miles either.

Frankly I think you can get drawn in by big claims and big advertising, and end up paying much more than you need to on this 'what if' question...

I'm fascinated at that video. Done plenty of Hydraulics before and not too sure what it demonstrates in real life?

I can't quite make out the name but "felix lubricity tester" doesn't come up on yahoo and not one I've personally heard of before unless I hear that wrong.

...Interested.

The de-facto oil for the UK cars was Castrol Magnetec 10w40, I'm sure the Toyota dealers used it.

Mobil 1 15w50 is a good oil,

but both are way over-priced in the UK (comes down to that advertising thing)

I used to purchase Mobil-1 in France, I could get 5L for ~£22 compared to UK 4L for ~£35.... All them Booze Cruzin' Chavs going through the Carrefour checkouts with trolleys of JP-Chenet, and mine would be full of engine oil
