Why oh why do people speed up their videos? It just totally ruins it.

It looks mega fun anyways.

somebody post a comment on the youtube link then if people think it speeded up, no doubt the poster will reply
i do not think it is speeded up and cant see why anyone would think it is
look at the rev counter, listen to the engine, listen to what the are saying - not speeded up

Looks fine to me, sound all seems to match as well. If it looks sped up it just means you've never driven your car hard enough ;)

Brilliant, LOL.

Definitely not sped up, rev counter looked realistic as did the hands and speed!

Absolute nonsense folks, the hand movements are way too fast, like at the start from gearstick to face, inputs in the corner, when the passenger is waving straight on etc.

I thought you lot knew about driving a car smoothly to make it quick?

Look at the way the rev counter falls between gear changes.

I've no doubt it's a damn quick car but that video is 100% sped up.

And i agreed it was, very much so.

Just tainted by something that could be down to decoding, or could be down to a wind up, or could be down to showing off. I only pointed out the fact it looks sped up.

I too thought it looked sped up. However, if you read the text on the right, the guy's time is 1:43 and there's a link to the results site (which I haven't checked). The video is only 1:45 long...

Actually kind of weird I've now viewed it on a different computer/connection and now it does look sped up. Strange!

It wasn't meant as a confrontational thing and i hope the guy hasn't taken it that way.

As i said, it looks pretty quick as it is, may just be down to compression that the video is sped up slightly, or at least appears that way.

Would be good to get some more info on the car itself.

(reply i got from the guy on youtube)

790kgs
Turbos setup is simple: IHI RHB52 (plain bearing, internal wastegated) from a Mazda GTX 1840cc 4x4.
It has an upgraded compressor wheel and has made 175rwkW in a Ford Laser GTX 4x4. (about 300bhp at motor). In standard trim the turbo is good for about 250bhp.
MR2 made max 114rwkW on dyno at 6.5psi (i.e. about 190bhp at the motor).
VVT is currently inactive so torque drops off at 6000rpm.
In the video we run about 8psi - I don't know power at wheels at this pressure.
At 6.5psi 110kW was available between 6 and 8000rpm.
The car is completely stripped of all OEM interior. Excluding front windscreen the windows re no plastic. OEM fuel tank also removed. 7litre tank in front boot well
