I've just mentioned this project to the guys I work with at Bookatrack.

Paul, you have been offered a free trackday to give it a proper shakedown 8)

Drop me a PM for more details once the car is fully completed :thumleft:

G that's fantastic! I could arrange to have Mr2only there that day as well for a shoot, presuming steve would want this nutjob car in the mag that is!

:thumleft: superb idea.

Quick question - What ever happened to 'Lilly'??

Ah poor lily got scrapped, i took all of her best bits off about 2 years ago, i just chopped too much out of that car and left myself a mountain to climb, i could have completed it but it would have been a 5 year build rather than the 2 years i will take over the current car.All of lilys best bits are on this one.

At BookaTrack we do not charge for spectators or passengers at any event.

The offer to Paul for a free trackday is not really there to be used for publicity for Woodsport or anyone else. It was a offer from the owner of BaT who has an affection for the MK1 after driving our old AW11 SC and current MK1 track car. There are condiitons to the offer too but nothing serious though :mrgreen: and these can be discussed with Paul in person or via PM.

However, I am planning an MR2 Club trackday again next year and it would be cool if Paul could have his car there. Details of the MR2 trackday will be posted in the Motorsport & Trackday forum when details become available :thumleft:

It is actually no different than any other engine converted car, worst case scenario it will need an SVA if it's deemed i have modified the chassis too far, but who decides that i'm not sure at the moment.

Maybe just book it in for an MOT, and if the tester passes it then keep quiet :-$

Its a points system, you add up the points of things changed and see what it comes out at. I cant find the link at the moment.

Yourself as far as i'm aware :lol:

Thats why some kit cars still carry the number plates of the cars that were donors for, becasue it all the bits are used not enough had changed. this was under the old kit car system which wasn't as tough, i'll try and dig out the info later.

found it, it has changed sine the new sva rules

And if you do have to SVA, on kit car insurance the v8 will cost you pennuts :wink:

The vehicle must score eight or more points to retain the original registration mark. If less than eight points are scored or a second-hand or modified chassis or altered monocoque bodyshell is used an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA), enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA), single vehicle approval (SVA) or motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) certificate will be required to register the vehicle. A 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated.

the following values will be allocated to the major components used:

* chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
* suspension = 2 points
* axles = 2 points
* transmission = 2 points
* steering assembly = 2 points
* engine = 1 point

Where there is evidence that two vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie 'cut and shut') a 'Q' mark will be allocated, IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA will be required.

looks like you score about 2 points by my estimation Paul :lol: assuming you dont move the steering to create more room for the driver in the cabin lol.

Maybe worth ringing a few companies for quotes first before you decide what to do, but the big thing with kit cars are the mods, technically they arn't mods as its part of the car.

I almost made my sc conversion a kit car just for the insurance, gets rid of the whole import problem :lol:
