[Mk2] [Turbo] major over fueling....

Post by chrisf »

hi,
car is now starting...just

basically the garage i used were told to keep the original injectors in for the mean time, cos i didnt have a stand alone to manage the extra fuel etc.....anyhoo they have fitted the sard ones, 800 ones off the top of my head

car is totally over fueling and is not drivable because of this, taken car out garage now and not going back,my question is whether something like a Apexi SAFC will control the fuel enough so i can get the car MOTd and usable for the next few months?

Get some standard ones put back in ASAP

You'll be running so rich that the fuel will be washing the oil off the cylinder walls.

the SAFC is nothing more than a sticking plaster, plus when you alter fuelling using an SAFC, it makes changes to the ignition timing that you cannot quantify.

+1

The toyota ECU will overfuel like crazy on 800s.

Dont bother with a SAFC, get a powerFC or another standalone.

To use it in the mean time, get the 540s back on there or you could do some damage.

hi,
just spoke to dastec up in scotland...they think that for my set up,hoping for 300/350 bhp....the sard injectors are way too big, and will be unmappable-for my needs that is

if the 540 cc ones will see me past 300bhp i would just sell sard ones, any info on how much power the rev3 ones are good for wud be helpful

i'm sure i have seen hybrid set ups etc with these type of injectors before though :-k

Pretty sure they are talking b0ll0cks. Im sure they can be mapped down no problem.

Probably can, but it'll be a trade off, if the ECU doesnt have great resolution you will sacrifice MPG. Better to have injectors suited to the power, i.e. 80% of max duty at full boost.

Yeah, but wouldnt it be a bit risky running on 540 for 350bhp.

350hp would be 85% duty on 540cc injectors. :thumleft:

Having had massively oversized injectors on my previous car(560cc on a 993cc engine running 60% duty at 25psi boost) I'd definitely spec something that was in the 80-90% duty range to retain some semblance of MPG off boost.

Sorry for going Off topic

But i had my acv-r set up by 2 bar tuning and at 58% duty @ 1.2bar i'm over boosting to like 1.25-1.3bar

so adding more duty, controll the over boost?

Reduce the duty. Its most likely due to the cold weather.
