Anyone know which is the best Xbox 360 gaming headset,
I wanna get my bro a Christmas prezzy and though these would fit the bill, looking for some with 5.1 or even 7.1 if they exist.
I have no idea where to start and wondered if any of you guys have them.

Re: Xbox Headsets
I have been looking at a pair as well for basically the same reason.
Ones I have seen are the Sharkoons - £70. Turtle Beach - £120. Skull Candy - £30.
I also saw another set that looked amazing - £50 and wireless can t find them at the moment (others tend to require a regular headphone jack plug in)
Playing games with headphones really makes the difference, as you can then hear which direction the noise is coming from - which helps for FPS games.

Re: Xbox Headsets
I bought a pair of Sharkoon headphones today, came very well rated and have 5.1 dolby and a mic for Xbox chat.
The only thing is they arent wireless, but from what I read the wireless models have issues with hissing, poor range and short battery life. Equally LCD / Plas screens can mess with the signal too. I cant be bothered with changing batteries and the last set of headphones I bought that worked off IR was god awful - the only time I got a clear signal was when I put my head to the reciever which kinda defeats the point behidn them.
How long do you give it before the woman trips over the wire and rips the 360 off the shelf!!
should be hear tomorrow, will let you know what they are like.

Re: Xbox Headsets
Well I got my headphones this weekend ... the result ... amazing!
Its crazy what you are missing unless you have a full 5.1 surround system and dont mind about p1$$ing off your neighbours.
The sound detail is intense.
Once set up you get the full surround sound experience, on MW2 you can hear where the gun fire, voices, footsteps are coming from, and you can tell where helicopters / harriers are overhead etc. You do genuinley head bullets wizz past you as well - was playing some spec ops with them and a rocket just missed my head and I heard it flash past my left ear!
Equally on something like Forza you know where cars are in relation to yourself without having to look to the side or the back and equally as you pass you can here the sound travel from the front, to the side and then to the back.
Also little touches in Forza - like if you stop on Fujimi you can hear the wind whistling etc.
Very cool!

i love surround sound, i have no idea how i used to play without it before. a few months ago i took my tv and ps3 to a mates to play socom, left my surround sound at home.... never played socom without it and my god it was terrible! no depth to the sound and it all sounded so dull and boring!
Re: Xbox Headsets
How do they connect? i.e. can you still use HDMI?
Re: Xbox Headsets
yeah you can still use hdmi, but you may have to mod a component cable like i did or buy the elite hdmi/optical lead.
Re: Xbox Headsets
Why would you need to mod it?
Would this work with it?
