[Mk2] [Turbo] Brake disc rusted on!!!

Post by davidmit »

I'd be grateful of some quick help as i'm currently under the car and losing the will to live.

I have removed the rear calliper and the disc will not come off for love nor money.

Anyone have any tips as I have wacked hell out of it with a lump hammer but it wont budge and it is quite badly scored .....well and seriously warped now :0) so cant leave it.

Ok I can't remember back to when I removed the discs on the '2, but on my Celica there were three threaded holes on the hub face of the disc. Do your discs have these?

If so it's just a case of running three correctly sized bolts down the threads and jacking the disc away from the hub. In reality once you've broken the rust seal to the hub face, the disc should just come straight off.

If you don't have the holes, erm, a bigger hammer?

Thanks Slarty,

I just got the thing off, didnt have the correct thread bolts to use your suggestion. But I was hitting the disc outwards which wasnt budgeing. Hitting inwards round the disc with a huge hammer it came off quite easily. Why it took me two hours to get to this realization I dont know.

One side left.
