R888 & wear....help please!

Post by 2barGee »

I was on my way 2 japshow today to do some 1/4 mile and My r888 @ the rear is getting close 2 the limit perhaps just past it ;-) now I got to the pod about 150 miles worth of driving and one of the rears had blistered all over!!!!!!

I could not belive how much of the tyre tread had gone!!! Pretty much a slick now !!!!!

Is this normal or has my camber gone way out or something???

Any help on this would be great as I'm off back 2 the ring in 2 weeks!!!! & want my car 2 b 100% again!!

Thanks dan

lol well I need 2 new tyres now!!! :-( I've had the camber checked and it was very very agressive so it's been slightly changed so I should get a bit more tyre on the road when I corner...... I'll see what it's like when I'm back at the ring in 2 weeks!!!

Yes that's twice in as many months jj..... u coming this time?? :-)

Dan,

Love to come, but I've broken the engine and in the process of sorting the block out... block developed a crack in cylinder 2 and started overheating #-o .... let me sort the reliability out and I'll be right behind you ! :thumleft: Or in the barrier !

Dan, how long are your R888's lasting on track? I want a set but put off by people saying they wear stupidly fast?

hia mate how's tricks?? I've had my set about a year, the fronts have got loads of tread left!!!! In that time I've done about 4track days + a trip over 2the ring! I was running 350bhp throughout this time + I used them on the road a fair bit as well! O yeh and did about 5 burn outs in them whilst doing the 1/4. So I would say they lasted pretty well!!! :-) I'm buying some more as I type this!!!

Hey Dan,

Not to bad thanks, yourself?

Based on the wear you experienced I think I will get a set - my car seems to float on a cloud on magic anyway so they will probably last for ages!

Never seem to properly kill tyres unless its due to my savage camber! Tried to smoke a set off at the last track day so I could replace them and they still have loads of life left!

What compound did you go for out of interest?

I have GG's on the Eunos and I found that they initially wear loads, coming in from the 1st session on track I thought I'd be lucky if they lasted the whole day. However after the initial really rapid wear taking about 2mm off them so down to about 3mm they seem to have just stopped wearing an anything like the rate they did. After the last trackday at Silverstone they didn't look any more worn than when I started the day. I have about 4 or 5 trackdays on them now.
