[Mk2] [Turbo] A chargecooler fitting query.

Post by Martin F »

i am fitting a radtec chargecooler but i''m using the cinquecento radiator , i don't need my air con so would it be better to remove the air con radiator, my thinking is if i remove the air con rad the chargecooler radiator will get extra heat from the cars normal radiator... :-k , i.e. heatsoak...

so should i remove it or leave it, that is the question... :thumleft:

Is it also worthwhile putting a spal fan on there, if so a puller or pusher...

I wouldn't have thought it would of made that much difference, the air flow will ensure the heat is moving in the opposite directions and when your staionary as you leave a sufficent air gap it should be fine.

I didn't have room for a fan (standard bumper + aircon), by I was thinking about putting a manual switch in to control one of the radiator fans

Did you buy the chargecooler as a brand new kit or just the core on its own? Any idea what bhp they're rated to as I want one to replace my st205c/c.

I removed the aircon rad on mine and I've got both fans running constantly on my car, the coolant temp stays spot on then.

I bought it from Greddy matt, full kit apart from the radiator, i was quite keen on buying the radtec radiator but i have been informed it's not needed, a fan would however be nice(just have to find an appropriate one).

the reasons i went for this kit are that my greedy sidemount was unable to cope with my power requirements, nor the st205 chargecooler, so it was between the radtec and a bootmount, just so happened to come up for sale at the right time for me...

no idea on power levels yet but i will report back once the car gets mapped :thumleft:

On the whole the core looks quite impressive and i'm quietly confident it will complete the cars performance

sorry to butt in on this thread and take it slightly off topic, but i have a chargecooler from a subaru legacy, and it will fit very well without that much work

But it does overhand slightly on the exhasut manifold, has anyone got any idea where to get a decent heat sheild, or ever the turbo blankets to i can keep temps down ? ( i do intend on gettin a cinq rad, a header tank and putting ice in it :clown: )

you may have to fabricate one, either that or raise the pipes :-k

pity, i had 3 large sheets of titanium that i aquired from my last contract, and bloody left them in my locker when i went ](*,)

Ive seen the turbo blackets for 80 quid so that not too bad, between that, wrapping the downpipe, a heat sheild and directing the air from the now free side vent, my bay should be plenty cool IMO O:)

Sorry to revive this thread,

im gonna be using a 205 core with a fiat rad

Can i retain my Aircon and my foglights?
Also, should I have the pipes on the rad facing the drivers or passenger side?

you can retain both and it would be easier to keep the pipes pointing towards the drivers side, for bleeding the system anyway if using the fiat rad
