Just posting a solved problem in case anyone is having or might have in the future this problem.

I noticed a loud rattle from under the car while going over bumps.

When I applied the brakes it disappeared.

I jumped to the obvious conclusion it was the pads, maybe the anti rattle springs weren't doing their job.

Had a look and the pads were tightly held in place.

It turned out to be the slide pins in the caliper, they were badly corroded and very sloppy.

To test if this was the problem I packed the pins and holes with really heavy sticky silicone grease to and reassembled.

Now not a peep from the front over the bumpiest of roads.

This is a temporary fix and I will be looking for some reconditioned calipers, but at least I know.

Anyway just thought id post on here in for anyone who experiences similar problems and cannot find a solution.
