[Mk2] [Turbo] what power will my rev 2 gts make before i have to start replacing internals?
my rev 2 gts is crying out for some more power, its done 50,000 miles has a hks induction kit,3" tanabe single exit exhaust, blitz B.O.V and is running at just under 1 bar boost,i would like to see over 310 bhp, what would be the best next step?ive got around
£2000 to spend, any advice would be much apriciated

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what power will my rev 2 gts make before i have to start replacing internals?
What boost controller and engine management do you have?

I assume the ECU is stock so that would be your next step.

What about intercooler?
Again, if stock, then put this next on your list.
Always plenty of decent second hand ones for sale on here, that'll see your cooling sorted up to around 350bhp.

Then it's turbo, a CT26 hybrid or bigger if you can pick up one second hand?

I assume the ECU is stock so that would be your next step.

I agree with the ecu/intercooler/boost controller but you would be better looking for a second hand turbo kit, the hybrids don't work very well, kind of a false economy

you will also need bigger injectors/fuel rail/fuel pump/new clutch etc.

Also at 350 bhp you will be risking the engine depending on your driving style, be alot cheaper to stay around the 310 mark
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what power will my rev 2 gts make before i have to start replacing internals?
what turbo and intercooler would you suggest?ive been looking at the xs power t3/4 kits but ive heard mixed reports about the fitment and quality of some of the parts

Keep an eye on the for sale section, there's always decent intercoolers coming up.

Something like a Berk, or a Greddy?

As for a turbo, second hand you can't really be too picky as not many go up for sale.

when i had rev 2 engine running similar to yours
(but with a greddy IC and a downpipe) it made just over 250bhp
- yours may be at a similar place now.

useful
(if old now) link

based on the yankee info, but some good pointers anyway.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what power will my rev 2 gts make before i have to start replacing internals?
My advice with any 3SGTE engine is to consider uprating the internals at the point where you
*have* to upgrade the injectors from stock.
It's not an exact science, but a good rule of thumb.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what power will my rev 2 gts make before i have to start replacing internals?
Get a metal head gasket mate, rev1&2s r not as strong as rev3 and will go in time when u crank the boost up.

I'm running 350+ so have a look in my garage if u want& I'm on a stock head
& bottom end fella
& I've done a fair few track days now with no problems at all
the key is a good map and good cooling.

See my huge charge cooler in my garage

Woah woah woah there, not all hybrids were created equal Marty! I'm running a stage 2 CT26 from Fensport, at a club rolling road day last year my humble Rev 2 was in the words of the Dyno operator

Best engine mod I've carried out was fitting my GReddy IC, very noticeable improvement.

My plan of attack would be; Turbo, either a C20b or hybrid CT26, Intercooler or chargecooler, Electronic Boost controller set at 1.2bar, steel headgasket, induction kit and exhaust.

Provided your car is healthy that should see you near 300hp.
