Hi all,
I've tried searching the forum for related topics but no joy. So here i go...
I have a TOAD powerkey which was installed back in 2002. Now Im having problems with it.
Usually, i have to wave the plastic keyring (i think its called a transponder tag) infront of 2 sensors located on the dash and this will disarm the immobilizer. For some reason, it doesn't switch off anymore. The car was parked up with battery disconnected for some time. I recently reconnected the battery and now the immobilizer doesnt turn off.
I'm not sure what i've done. I have a spare tag but this doesnt work either.
Any ideas???

The alarm might have to store the tags ID and its lost it due to being without power for so long. You might have to re-program them just a guess.
Do you have a model number? do a search on google?

I thought as much Ian. I tried to google a wiring diagram to get an idea of how to remove it but no joy.
I removed the dash under the steering column and found the alarm. Its has so many wires and they are all black. Grrrrrr
I traced most of the wires and they seem fairly easy to remove but some are a bit iffy.
I will try to remove it in a few days. Any advice Mr Toad Installer??

Ian,
I followed all the wires from the alarm unit and most are easy enough to remove. But some are confusing the hell out of me!!
In theory the alarms wires should connect to the cars loom right?? In some cases by attaching to a wire and in other cases bypassing a wire. Thats my problem i found 4 or so black wires that look as though they are part of the cars loom and they connect in pairs to a single wire from the alarm. If i remove the alarm wire i will be left with 2 or more loose wires (from the cars loom) with no idea where to reconnect them.
Hope that makes sense
I would call you but i live in Cyprus and the bill will be crazy big. If i take some photos of my trouble spots and email them to you. Do you think you can help??
Thanks

Sorted!!! I removed it....
The problem the wires that confused me came from another alarm I had (autowatch)... Removed them both with no problems at all.
Pretty easy to be honest.. only took a couple of hours..
Thanks for your help anyways Ian.
