Im having a problem fitting extended wheel studs on the rear, I took the brake caliper/disk/dust shroud off, hammered out old studs, then realised I couldnt get square behind the new studs to hammer back in.
I couldnt undo the main hub bolt to get the assembly off - bl00dy lsd box!
Any tips from anyone that has done it?
may be a stupid question have you turned the disc where you could get access, ie opposite side of caliper just a thought this is how i did it to a mk 1 escort or just pop off caliper even might be an idea.
she's all comming together nicely now after a fair bit of cash spent, not bad for just an n/a now for some body kit i think.
Have you tried using a wheel nut, your probably want a open ended one. I would use plenty of oil and slowly screw the nut on and it should pull the stud into the hub.
agree with previous comments, just to add - rather than use the wheel as a spacer i used a 1/2 inch socket as the spacer, that way - you can see whats going on - ie how much further you need to pull the stud through.
thanks for the input guys
after closer inspection it turned out the toothed grip part of the stud was too wide for the hub, so very glently with the grinder took some off untill it was managed to be persuaded into place with a large hammer
