[Mk2] [Turbo] Intercooler/chargecooler

Post by Ruishy1 »

Does anyone think its possible to fit the cosworth inter/chargecooler to a rev 1 turbo ?

trying to modify my car on the cheap, and this is a plausible alternative to the celica chargecooler.

where could i fit it ?

just throwing some ideas about :thumleft:

Yeah ive seen the boot mount, but dont want to go that far, and if i did, i would use a large intercooler, as the cosworth chargecooler is not a big afair, and it would be a lot of work for relatively small gains

hang on a minute, i saw the cosworth bit in the first post and assumed we where talking about a front mount intercooler, now i'm not so sure
is it an intercooler or a chargecooler?
if its an intercooler is the standard one or an uprated front mount one?

I considered using a chargecooler from a Focus RS before I got my ST205 one. I never got round to measuring one but it looks compact enough. All depends how comfortable you are at making your ow pipe work up.

so, its a chargecooler then
plenty of places for it to go then
there is just enough space at the front for an extra rad
the core can go in a number of places depending on the shape/size and orientation of the inlet and outlet
some custon items have been fitted in the air filter corner of the engine bay, the rogue item replaces the space freed up by removing the standard intercooler, a number of custom ones have also been fitted in the boot (easier done if using a custom inlet manifold)

the boost inlet/outlet pipes are ontop of one another going by the pic, so think il stick it where the intercooler is instead, and wont take much to massage the pipes there

Il go to my local place and get a cinquecento (sp?) radiator this weekend, now all i need is a cheap pump, and the whole caboodle should only cost around 100 odd quid \:D/
