[Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

Post by Jimbob »

Well only just but none-the-less.

Got my car mapped yesterday by Dave Rowe.

Everything worked great and held together well. We increased boost progressivley until we reached 25psi (1.72bar) and Dave suggested we had got to a point where intake temps were just starting to rise so best to leave it at that. He had intended to go to 2bar..........

Anyway the final figures amazed me and Dave has done a magic job!

509.6BHP and 467.6ft/lbs @ Flywheel

Needless to say the car feels quite nice!!!!

I would update my projects page but cannot get on it for some reason?

Nice one matey :D Bet you are happy with that :thumleft: The change to Motec was definately the right move

Been using mine abit on the road, the thing drives so good off boost, then when the boost does kick in....Fooking hell!!! Daves mapping never fails to amaze me :D 8)

You were on the phone to Dave asking about AFR's whilst he was in my car on the Dyno. He was cracking up.

I just blew a house off tonight as well. Loads of power then POP! :D

Need to get some welded pipes on me thinks!

I am astonished at the power from the little turbo, made more than my mates GT4 on a 3076! He is on Hydra though.

It far exceeded my expectations, just wondering if its the record for a 3071R? Especially on such low boost.

Yeah, I have put a larger fuel pump on to stop it leaning out at the top. Wanted to make sure that all was OK with it fitted. Looks like it thank fook! I have just took all my boost pipes to local fabricator to get them welded and bigger flanges on the ends. Should be ready for refitting tomorrow \:D/ \:D/

I can't explain how quick it is....well till boost pipes blew off lol.

Pleased with your result mate. Must be right nice with a smaller blower.

I can imagine how quick it is

Mine feels like its as much as I can keep up with, so what an extra 114BHP is like!

Really chuffed. Its not quite as fast spooling as maybe I expected, but then I never drempt of 500bhp! Sounds so much better than 400 and something lol.

It's quite progressive, it builds nicley from about 3250-3500, by the time its at 4000 it's singing on boost when it gets to 6000 its still pulling hard all the way to the redline. First gear is pointless is all over and done with before you can change gear. Hit the limiter a couple of times as its just so rapid off the mark and out of bends. I'd pop out in it again, but can't keep this petrol usage up!

Dave is a really top bloke we were chuckling away about stuff. When you see him next, tell him you heard he's a bit conservative on the advance and bet you get a good reaction!

nice one ! :thumleft:

you've been waiting a long time for this to be done, hope it continues to give you loads of fun.

Did they give you an at the wheels power figure, or just the fly one ?

If not a 3071 record, it won't be far off it ... normal fuel too ?

Very nice results Jimbob :thumleft:

What is your rough spec list for the car? Also were the results achieved on regular pump fuel alone or were you running methanol injection too?

Any chance of seeing the shootout dyno charts?
