where to get ignition leads?

Post by stevemilton »

I was checking a few things in the engine bay and thought I'd have a look at the spark plugs. I was removing the ignition lead from one of the plugs, and noticed that still attached to the plug was the metal bit from the lead.
The engine still seems to run ok when it is reseated, but I'm thinking it's probably best to replace the leads, and was wondering if anyone can recommend a place to get some standard leads from?

Cheers.
Steve.

Try Camskill, GTSChris, Fensport or Rouge. If your looking for cheap and cheerful then Camskill prob your best bet.

Or just go to Toyota. They are dearer but they're also excellent in fit and performance.

I'd get the NGK ones from GTS Chris very good match for the OEM leads and cheaper too. The Magnacores are ok but use horrible rubber boots, not clips like the originals and I found mine coming off from time to time.

yeah its fine, as long as you get the correct size leads, eg: 5mm, 7mm etc, then its not a problem

Give Chris a call.
Get a tape measure out on your current ones...it's real easy than place like for like in terms of width.

I would never buy Magnecors....not worth it and I've heard to many bad reports of waste of money etc.
Buy the NGK (best after original Toyota ones) or the OE Toyota ones (Toyota ones are very expensive but are probably the best!)
Don't buy the Blue print ones from Camskill...they are totally rubbish.
Mine didn't even fit. Got all 4 on...or so I thought...found one boot sticking up a bit...pulled it out to find all the metal wire hanging down.
Even Camskill said they aren't that good when I spoke to them about it. :thumleft:

I thought I'd give Toyota a ring to find out what they would charge. Even the parts guy said that it was expensive. They were wanting £130ish!
I think a call to Chris might well be on the cards.

Was your engine warm when you removed the boot?

It's often the cause of broken leads, I did this myself :eye:

Always remove when cold :thumleft:
