Just thought i'd pop by and say hi as I today viewed and paid a deposit for a 1989 Mk1 local to me. I've got a history of building and owning kit cars previously but fancied something "different" for my daily driver too so started looking for a decent Mk1 (by far the best IMHO of the MR2's). The car i am getting needs a couple of structural jobs sorting around the front end but nothing major. Sills, floors and rear arches are all well and truly solid having previously been sorted out.
So, in preparation for sorting the front end out while i still have my "other" daily driver, could someone tell me what the panel between the lights and behind the bumper is called (under the plastic trim panel). Is there a body parts diagram / list anywhere in Cyberspace to make these questions easier??
Thanks
Paul

Re: Newbie saying hi and help re Body parts list
53292A looks like it's the plstic cover to me. The metal bit is 53205, proper name from the EPC is "Support Sub-Assy, Radiator, Upper" and it's full part number is 53205-17030 for a mk1b.
I'd just call it a slam panel though.

Re: Newbie saying hi and help re Body parts list
Ah gotcha - thanks Kaiowas. The plastic cover was removed so its definately the panel beneath it so that all makes sense now. I'll have a good look once i get the car but the side supports looked fine from what I can see. I was expecting a small amount of restoration to be needed so not a great problem to do that job (I hope). At least I have welding and spray equipment to be able to do the job properly.
Are there any recommended suppliers for these panels or should i just find a local body panel supplier??
Thanks

Absolutely right...53205-17030 is the fella you need. Be very interesting to see if Toyota still do the part...let us know as I'm sure you're not the only one needing this panel!!
Re: Newbie saying hi and help re Body parts list
I'll try Toyota and the local body panel places today then and report back with prices. It seems to be a simple bolt of part at least - just the side supports appear to be welded with all measurements available to allow it to be tomporarily jigged for welding

Try the Items Wanted section first
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

When my flexi gave on my magnex, we took it to a local exhaust fabricator who welded in a replacement for £25

Thankfully the place where I work there are plenty of welding machines free to use after the factory staff have gone home...
