[Mk2] [Turbo] Valve Springs Which Ones Are Exhaust Which Are Inlet?

Hi I'm rebuilding an ST205 engine and having stripped the head I note the following,

Valve springs on the exhaust side are marked with green paint.

Valve springs on the inlet side are marked with red paint.

The new valve stem seals are also colour coded green and brown, the manufacturer confirmed the green are inlet and the brown are exhaust.

This has made me think that the valve springs I removed are around the wrong way?

I've spoken to Topyaota who confirmed they are different but they do not know which colour goes to which side?

Any advise guys?

green is exhaust n red is intake and id double check teh valve stems too, im sure the green is the exhaust side.....coiuld be wrong tho cant remember off the top of my head .

Lee: I think your thinking that because the toyota ones are brown on the intake side and black on the exhaust side? At least the sets ive always bought have been

What make are the stem oil seals?

Hey guys thanks for helping out!

The new valve stem seals are from a kit manufactured by, The British Gasket Group part number HK1505H.

I have spoken with them and they advised me the green were the intake and brown exhaust.

So the valve springs marked with green are from the exhaust side and the red ones intake!
