Looking for a respray

Post by jim-mapps »

Does anyone have an idea what a respray should cost?

Mine's a UK Rev 1 T-bar with all the usual issues, arches need sorting as they're made of fibreglass, sills will more than likely need looking at, had one done on the cheap for MOT and I'm sure the other will want looking at before having a spray done. Then there's a few bubbles appearing just above the windscreen but that is a square inch at the most and it's only just bubbled up.

I'm leaving it the original colour (dark metallic blue, whatever that's called)

Is it worth doing? The motor has never skipped a beat since November when I took a chance on it on Ebay. Picked it up for £460 so I was thinking if I spend a grand making it mint I've still got a cheap car (Even if it is NA)

I would say around £1500 plus the paint for the respray. I would be cheaper for you to do the major work yourself regardign the sills and the arches. The major work with a respray is the prep, get this wrong and your finish will look crap.

See what you mean but I'm probably better off getting someone who knows what they're doing to do the prep!

Have you looked at having it Properly Machine Polished by a detailer Jim? only about £300 and the difference that is achievable is fantastic

I would consider that Tiny, the only thing is the metalwork underneath needs looking at properly if I'm going to keep the car, and it's been so much fun snce I got it I'm definitely keeping it!

£1500 is doable, more than I wanted to spend really though... :-k
