after swopping my engine and putting the battery back in the car, the car tried starting without a key!!! bad news!!!
the problem was the grounds under the inlet manifold was touching the lives on the alternator!!!
the car will now turn over but wont start!!!!
is the ecu cooked????
you can pop the ECU open with a couple of screws. Easy enough to do and I would think that there will be obvious damage if there is a problem.
Make sure you have Fuel, Spark, Air & Compression.

If there is no spark, work it back from the plug. Check the leads, or jump straight back to the ignitor. If there is nothing at the ignitor, then you could check the ECU is sending a signal for that. Some heavy diagnosis needed on your part I feel, but its not unsolvable.
theres 12volt going to the coil, but to be honest i cant use a multi meter for s***! had a look at the ecu and everything looks good.
some1 up road from me has a ecu but the code is different to mine

If you're getting power at the coil then the ECU should be fine. I'd look at other ignition components if you're not getting spark.
i wouldn't use a different numbered ECU. Couldn't gaurantee results, good or bad.
the rotor arm is turnin, got new leads. used the old ones to double check, plus used the old dizzy still no luck
need some1 with a good knowledge of the electrics
wouldn't be the relay???? how do u test them???
The rotor arm turning just means its attached to the cam. Doesn't mean any power is being passed through it to the leads. I take it you've checked the plugs spark by seeing a physical arc from it?
no spark from the plugs, have tested them next to the body.
have got a mobile mechanic comin @ 2 2day but i bet he wont find anything:(

Sounds like you've popped a fuse - they exist to protect the critical components, particularly the ECU, in situations like yours. Check the 15A blade fuse labelled EFI in your fuse box.
Could be a good clue - 14 is no ignitor signal to the ECU, so sounds like a wire has been damaged between the two. Usually this is the wire into the ignitor multiplug - give it a wiggle. This would certainly cause your problem.

got the loom off the car, and found the ground to th intercooler fan
has burned out!!! but nothing else
could the igniter be f***ed???
also had the multi meter out and found the coil has 12volts and 5volts going to it
