My first Qtr mile

Post by RobCrezz »

Did my first 1/4 mile drag day at north Weild air field yesterday, was awesome fun, I think im addicted!

If you havent been there before, its a concrete type surface, so no where near as grippy as tarmac but I managed a 13.67 as my best time which I was happy with.

I only lost 1 drag of the day, which was to a stripped out yellow mustang, with roll cage and a very loud v8 who ended up running a 12.

I managed to beat:
Mitsi 3000GT (GTO) Twin Turbo
Jaguar XJS V12
Nova with a red top
Fiesta with a Puma engine on throttle bodies
E36 M3
My mates Pink proton 1.5 (lol)

Was anyone else there? Im pretty sure I had the only MR2 there, didnt see any others.

Good time considering the surface. I've done a 0-60 there back in 2004 and all I remember is the sheer lack of grip.

Kudos to you and your time :thumleft:

Im running:
Haywood and Scott exhaust
Aussie downpipe (with crack lol)
Blitz intake and dump valve
Ebay intercooler
Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost controller at 1.2bar

Was dynoed at around 220 at the wheels before the boost controller (so running standard boost) and intercooler. So its roughly 300 at the fly now.

Yeah was awesome, really hard to get grip there, way less than even normal road surface, lots of people were impressed with my time.

bu88er, i really wanted to know when one of these was on! I am itching to have a crack at the 1320 but would rather not look like a plonker in the staging area at Santa Pod in front of a bunch of people :)

Haha yeah, surface at north weild isnt very grippy, just crappy concrete. I think on tarmac I would be at low 13s no problem. On the road I can launch at around 4000rpm with minimal spin and great traction, at north weald it was spinning the tyres at around 3000rpm...

Yeah im still looking after her 8)
