New to IMOC only been here few months now been advised to sort out the handling before i start uprating the power on my GTS

Could any one recomend a good brand of coilovers for a Mk2 REV three 1994 GTS???

Depends on budget mate.

For about £800 or so you can get a new set of Tein Superstreets from Rogue or Ebay if you dare.

I have asked this a few times. It seems hard to find something suitable for the road, as most of the kits seem too hard.

Are you positive you need coilovers? I have recently replaced the suspension on an NA rev 3 with Yellow Bilsteins and Tein springs and the car handles beautifully.

I am going to put Super Streets on a rev 3 turbo, but only because the height adjustment is needed to cope with the wheel sizes.

For a road and occasional track car I would be more than content with the Yellow Billies though, especially if you change the ARBs and use poly bushes at the same time

Apparently for road use, the best setup is Eibach springs, coupled with Bilstein Yellow shocks as they are a bit more forgiving than coilovers.

However, i would rather have Adjustable coilovers and wouldnt want to spend the same amount of money for fixed rate dampers.

Is there something wrong with your handling then? Not sure if I understand why people are telling you to sort the handling before upgrading the power unless you've already got a handling problem.

As long as the stock suspension is in good order and the geometry settings are spot on I don't see the need unless you are planning a big power build, using the car for track days or are some kind of larie driver that likes taking it to the edge around every single corner.

IMO the stock suspension is fine if you're only planning basic bolt on power mods. I'm running nearly 290bhp at the wheels on 17" rims and stock suspension and I've never had any problems with the road holding and handling.

Just to add a bit to the OT, if you want to do some upgrades then coilovers are ok but will give you a harsher ride quality than you have at present. Lowering springs are much cheaper and would improve the handling. Eibach or Tein springs won't sacrifice too much ride quality. You could also upgrade the ARB's and strut braces for improved handling.

If you're just planning a few bolt on mods and are on a budget, I'd think about getting the geometry settings checked and changed if needed, make sure the brakes are good, bolt on the power mods and see how you feel about the suspension then.

Ive put Tein springs/standard shocks on mine, and trust me, you definitely sacrifice ride quality!

Even on standard rev 3 wheels/tyres it is very hard and catches every speed bump around!

Im now on 17's with a 45 profile and my god its hard!

Although, like you say, the handling is much better. Uprating the ARB is another very effective way of improving handling and reducing body roll for not much money.

Rather than just bolting on expensive, hyped up, anodised goodies think it through a bit.

I have to agree with Moo.

I like the stock bilsteins, the ride is firm without being harsh. All I would like to do is replace the stock bushings with poly items and fit solid drop links, just to sharpen things up a little.

Thanks for the advice chaps just got recommend to change ARB's and thought it would be nice to drop the ride height as well so thought i should got the whole hog and get coil overs but seems like its not worth the money.

If you enjoy driving on uk roads dont bother with jdm tyte (aka crap) coilovers. Imo the best thing you can do with a stock suspendered car (apart from the obvious tyres and alignment) is arb's.

Is your best bet, although I would recomend the H&R sport springs, or the TRD ones if you can get hold of them. They should be fine with your standard billstiens.

the only coilovers I would consider are the KW Variant 3's which are bump and rebound adjustable (unlike 99% of jdm coilovers which are bound adjustable)
