If the MOT tester knows what they are doing, then it should only be tested on the higher non cat emissions. So it shouldnt fail, but should be put on the correct test.

this is interesting - the petrol in my tank is 2 years old  I put a fivers worth in from a can, but I would say its half 2 year old fuel, half new fuel. would this make a difference to the emissions?

I was thinking about taking it for a brisk spin (the turbo hasn't spooled on the car for 2 years - it was taken to teh test centre on the back of a recovery truck) Maybe it just needs a good blast :-k

Lucas Electrical make an equivalent part, SNB842. I've ordered one for a '94 Corolla which was showing the Error 22 and struggling to idle from cold start. I actually measured the sensor today with a multimeter, it was completely open circuit.

Total cost was £10.71, from http://www.simpsonsupplies.co.uk/ Hopefully the Lucas part will do the job at a quarter of the price of Toyota part :D

Just noticed your post.
I have checked Camskill and their part number is different to yours.

I would be interested in the Lucas one if it's cheap enough then even if it lasts only a year I can bin it and keep replacing it.

The part on the Camskill website is a lambda sensor not a water temperature sensor, which is the part number I quoted.
