16" wheel question

Post by paxo_pete »

i have a 90 rev1 tubby and im thinking of getting some 7x16's as ive heard these are optimum for mr2's. im goin to stick with the original widths ie 195 and 225 and get 45 profile. the rear rolling radius is just about spot on but the front is less than original, about 7mm. would it be better to get 195/50 on the front as this is closer to original, about 3mm over. not sure which is best :-k i have standard shocks with eibach pro-kit springs (-25mm) cheers.

45 profile on both.

if you go for 50 on the front they will be a bigger that the rear and will look odd. (assuming you go for 45 on rear)

true but the original sizes were 195/55/15 and 225/50/15 which were different profiles. and even with a 195/50 up front the rolling radius is still less then 225/45 :-k

I have 205/45 16 on the fronts and 225/50 16 on the rear on MR2 specific Modena alloy wheels. Its got a really nice go kart feel. I like the look too.
