MR2000 - How many of you went?

I was just looking over some old pics and a bit of a summary I wrote for MR2000, seems a lot longer ago that it actually was but I was wondering how many current members were there?

I missed MR200 as it was the year I bought my first MK1. Went to MR2004 and was one of the people doing the sighting on the little gravel autotest that was setup near that uberbodykitted Mk1 you have a few piccies of.

I remember asking Tiff if he wanted a go (even offered him my car) but he said he didn't want to embarass himself.

Me me! I was there....in a yellow supercharger in 2000. Can't remember 2004, white veilside MK2 I think.

I remember MR2004!

It was the day I blew a ring land on my engine – I was doing the ¼ mile and had a few fast runs on the nitrous but also a few fuel cuts.

Still managed to pull a 12.9, despite backing off due to fuel cut ¾ the way down the strip, carrying a passenger, with a spare 11lbs tank of nitrous and my tool chest!

The engine detonated just outside Bristol when I went for a dig against Rich Uttley on the M5, used the nitrous, boost went to 25psi then bang – and massive smoke plumes out of the crank case breather!

I also remember a giant Cornish Pasty, a random baby clothes stall, a yellow MR2 belonging to one of the French guys which looked like it had a biscuit tin grafted into the boot lid and had 2 spoilers and Tiff Needle ruining a members tires on the circuit.

Was a good day and really enjoyed it – would be great if there was another one (and I was allowed to bring my xxxx box along)

MR2004 was our first ever MR2 event... just after we bought our Roadster. We couldn't make it to the local meetings at that time.

In 2009 the tables have turned and we are organising MR2@25 for the MR2DC, and of course it is open to ALL MR2 drivers / passengers!

With space for 600 plus cars, it is up to the MR2 community to see if we can make it as big as the previous ones!

I attended both MR2000 and MR2004.

MR2000 was ok, but MR2004 was a far more memorable as I was first idiot to hand over my keys to Tiff Needell

Both were good days, 2000 had the 1/4 mile and Yokohama tyre test, 2004 had the track and gravel auto test. Should also have been some go-karts at 2004, but the company doing the carts let us down.
