I thought vacuum leak somewhere, but I can't find anything.

Can smell fuel, so getting fuel, the car is firing on 4 cylinders an sounds perfectly normal, but just dies.

I did exactly what I did to my old rev2 regarding the spal fan and stock ic fan connector.Never had any problems on the old car doing that.

As you say the wiring is different on the Rev 5 to the Rev 2 just because it worked on the Rev 2 doesn`t mean it will o.k on the Rev 5.
This is the only change you have made to the car`s wiring, you say, so I would rule that out first mate.
