[Mk2] [Turbo] Passenger door won't open

Post by Ed »

The mechanism for the passenger door handle seems to have disconnected or broken and I can't open my passenger door.

Any ideas how I can get the door open to get the door card off and fix it?
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of your car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of your car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

The pins that run from the outside handle and the ones from the inside handle are seperate, does neither handle work? It's unlikely that they have both become disconnected, and therefore more likely it's the pin for the locking mechanism keeping the door locked. Try unlocking it with the key and flicking the central locking a few times.

If that doesn't work then it's coathanger down the window time!

Neither handle works.

I left work the other day and opened the passenger door, went to close it and it wouldn't close. So to make it close because I was in a hurry, I held the door shut and activated the central locking. This fixed the problem of the door not closing but now I can't open it with either handle. ](*,) #-o

Figured I was probably going to have to use a coat hanger.

Using a coat hanger doesn't appear to have done anything. It looks like the internal handle mechanism is working however the locking mechanism where the door catch is doesn't seem to be ding anything.
