Re: avensis 5th gear conversion parts from the US - group buy anyone?

that certainly LOOKS a lot easier than I'd imagined it to be, so maybe I might tackle it myself after all. What's the score with gearbox oil during this work? Is there a gasket available from toyota or is it just a case of slopping on gasket sealant? I'll carry on looking for another supplier to see...

Re: avensis 5th gear conversion parts from the US - group buy anyone?

I haven't got the foggiest lol the woodsport site says it takes 5th gear ratio down from 0.82:1 to 0.73:1 I'm not sure how the maths works though but I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell us what the result is :? Is yours an NA or Turbo? The Turbo 5th gear ratio is 0.73:1, the NA is 0.82:1. m...

Re: avensis 5th gear conversion parts from the US - group buy anyone?

I thought about finding a scrapper to nab the gears from, but the problems with this for me are; how knackered is that scrapped gearbox will it definately have the right parts I would have to hand over the whole gearbox to a garage for them to whip the parts out and swap them I wouldn't be doing any...

avensis 5th gear conversion parts from the US - group buy anyone?

morning all, I've just fired off an email to a company in the US (www.trademotion.com) to ask if they'll do a discount on the parts needed to do the extended 5th gear mod (33428-32040 and 33336-33020). My local toyota parts dept quoted me £210 for these, but this place in the US (which is the only o...

Re: Black mk1's

They are quite rare but I have one and I know someone else who has one in the North West. There are rarer colours around like a dark metallic red, a metallic blue/turquoise, and the two tone Sherwood which is metallic green over champagne. I've never seen any of these colours on the road but have s...

Re: Mk3 Roadster 3.0L V6 (1MZ-FE) (SOLD)

hmmmm, if you change your mind drop me a line, I'm toying with the idea of replacing my mk1 with something newer, and so far this is the only car that I've seen that has caught my attention. but I'm really reluctant to let my mk1 go, which is why it'll need to be something really special capable of ...

best place to get an engine from?

my engine has had it, it soudns like a bag of spanners. oil pressure is much lower than it should be, power is right down and it's basically dead.

i've scanned ebay but people on there want £250 for an engine thats either untested or has got 150k on it.

Re: crankshaft gear, behind cranshaft pulley

bit of a hijack, sorry, but slightly on subject, have yo got a spare crank pulley? mine broke, first one i was told was being sent never turned up and the seller has ignored my PM's which left me carless and unable to go to work until I got one from someone else. that second one arrived but the cent...

Re: Alternator Belt woes

thats excellents thanks. now, once it is off and I'm still in the mood to carry on, can it only go on in one position? is there anything I'll need to do to get it on, bash it with a lump hammer etc?

I might go out now and have a go at popping it off.

Re: Alternator Belt woes

Yep one bolt But its a dosy ](*,) You WILL need a breaker bar Chris. ok thanks, whats the best angle to attack it from? above or below? Also, stupid question probably but I'll ask anyway. Can it only go on in the one position? I mean in terms of lining up the timing mark so its in the right spot.

Re: Alternator Belt woes

no it hasn't been squeeling on start up, I just noticed an unusual rattle on my way home from work last week and when I stuck my head in to look I noticed the belt was a lot thinner than it used to be :D The alternator and water pump can both be turned by hand very easily so no problems there. The b...

Re: Alternator Belt woes

yes classic delaminated pulley, slipping belt has caused heat build up and burned the rubber in the pulley, you need to check both water pump and alternator as either one or the other is probably the cause of the slipping belt. then get a replacement bottom pulley when I looked to see what was up t...

Alternator Belt woes

My alternator belt snapped yesterday, and the car was making one hell of a rattly sound as a result. Put a new one on today, got it done up nice and tight but car is still sounding really rattly. When the belt was off I noticed something and it seems wrong to me. The bottom pulley that the belt loop...
