Re: New Car Restoration Show for ITV Looking to Help [email protected]

When I googled the phone number it cropped up in relevance to other TV shows, one was a fishing programme for example. So it's for real....mark my words. I've seen this a bit on bike forums but usually from magazines looking for a feature bike. It must happen with cars too. I've read a few stories f...

Re: New Car Restoration Show for ITV Looking to Help [email protected]

Dont like p1$$ing on parades but this could be an internet prank. If you're still unsure, this is for real. I did get a call but I was too busy at the time and asked if he could ring back an hour later but he never did. I looked up the number and it is a TV production company. I'm still interested,...

Re: New Car Restoration Show for ITV Looking to Help [email protected]

I heard on the radio this morning that Clarkson has announced he's doing a new car-based prog. Obviously, it won't be any type of restoration based thing though. I think that "Chasing Classic Cars" could be good if it was based in Europe and they showed more of what happens in the garage a...

Re: New Car Restoration Show for ITV Looking to Help [email protected]

I'm having 2nd thoughts anyway as I was looking forward to doing the work myself and want it done right :-k I don't really want to go on TV either, I've asked my son if he fancies doing it. Still......I'll see what the score is first and take it from there.

It could just be a coincidence......Bernie worked for Channel 5 and this is ITV. I'll keep you informed.

Re: New Car Restoration Show for ITV Looking to Help [email protected]

I bit....and had an email last night. They're going to ring me today some time. One slight worry, the email was entitled "Car Rescue" similar to the channel 5 programme "Classic Car Rescue" with Bernie Fineman....the guy that put together that lovely "custom" Saab for M...

Re: Question From Newbie Here

Thanks Lauren. What goes on the rear calipers? Stuck/rusty pistons? Blown seals? Are they servicable?

Drew.

Thanks for posting that, much appreciated

One of the places I havn't checked is the windscreen surround. If it was rusty there, would it show up?

Re: Munters SC Restoration Thread *pic heavy*

I can assure you Drew, Toyota don't use filler and cardboard on the production line. Ah.....I thought OP meant cardboard behind the filler  So all MK1s have cardboard behind the wheel arches from new? I've been warned about some type of foam lining on some of the panels and it causing rot fro...

Re: Munters SC Restoration Thread *pic heavy*

No idea why Mr T filled the arch return with what seems like cardboard? Had to pull some really nasty soggy stuff out of that hole. No wonder they rust so badly. In case this is still puzzling you, the cardboard's there to stop the filler getting pushed straight through and "dipping" whil...

Re: Question From Newbie Here

Thanks.....sounds like the usual routine. Is the fuel pump servicable? LimeyMk1......considering how long the car has sat, most of it on grass, and reading through the forums about problems others have had, I'm pleasantly surprised at the lack of rot. The rear wheel arch to sills have gone on both s...

Question From Newbie Here

Hi everyone, I've just picked up an MK1b that's been standing in the elements for a very long time...I estimate about 10 years. The body is better than I expected but before deciding to restore the car to its former glory, I want to make sure the engine isn't wrecked. Is there anything perculiar to ...
