Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
The cams were out both by one tooth. The car wouldn't rev over 4k, took it apart again today re-laid everything up, the tensioner didn't release when I started the car so it skipped. This time I set the crank to - 10 flicked the engine over and the tensioner released. Checked the timing marks and th...

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Huge thanks to one and all for your help(and yes it was 180 out on the crank and about 10 in opposite directions on the cams)

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Best advice after all of this, ignore anything anyone has written, drawn, scratched or marked in any way anywhere on your engine. And the 4 dots that are on the crank pulley apparently are nothing to do with the timing(unlike what I was told by a mechanic!) but there is a groove on the edge of the p...

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Quick explanation as to why it wouldn't fire up. The crank pulley was lined up properly, however the cams had two white marks and the casing also had a white mark. I was lining up the dot and s with the white mark, I should of lined up the second white mark with the white mark on the casing. When I ...

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
OK so I've set the dips on the crank to the zero mark, lined the cams up, still no difference.

I'll be honest, it's on the drive and it's lashing down with rain so I'll pull it apart tomorrow before work and let you know but I'm pretty certain it is. As always you lot are awesome, cheers

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
The cams have a dot and an s on one spoke, those are lined up at the top. The crank has a white mark on it which I lined up with the gap in the casing underneath the cog. I'm thinking when the belt has been changed in the past they marked it with white paint to match the cams so the white paint shou...

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
The timing marks were all lined up, silly question but could it be 180 out? There are only one set of marks on the cams

Any ideas after timing belt swap
So my timing belt snapped on Friday. I've changed it and fitted a new one but I'm still getting fault code 21 which I can't clear. The engine turns over but won't fire. Any ideas? Its a 94 G-Ltd

[Mk2] [NA] Freebie or should I just bin them?
So I've bought myself a new set of Driftworks dualtech coilovers and I'm fitting them this weekend. This means I have no use for my Apex 40mm drop springs. I know the forum rules before anyone says anything, so they're free to a good home. Anyways, the dampers are truly shot hence the coilovers but ...

Yup got one, fitted it, never had any problems. Throw is shorter, easy enough to fit.
