Idle screw
It's stamped 81 which means 18.1mm. Should I set back to factory setting and never touch it again?

[Mk2] [Turbo] What's the reason behind messing with adjustment screw on air flow meter?
I know that screwing in makes richer and vice versa but why would someone want to touch it. Noticed mine has been tinkered with and car was running rich on the rolling road. Could this be the reason why? I know it's made tamper proof from factory but was curious why previous owner would look to chan...

thermostat
i have a sender here to put in, £7 so i thought why not. wishful thinking lol in this weather it would take about 15-20 mins to reach half way (on the rare occasions it does). from memory during the winter it never reached half way, always just above quarter . If it was the thermostat, would this ma...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Would failing thermostat make car run rich??
Trying to find out if I have a bad thermostat/temp sensor/temp gauge sender. Car is running rich as well ( tail pipes black, spark plugs sooted after 600 miles ). I have found that my gauge rarely reaches the 'just below half way mark'. Most of the time it would be closer to quarter but does reach a...

O2
Think u might be right. My mate must have snipped the wires when we put the decat in. As above my O2 sensor has a lot of white deposits. Would it be worth replacing at this stage? Prob never been changed although no codes in Ecu. Are part number same for NA and turbo? Do you know part number for rev...

O2
Also noticed when changing to decat, that the O2 sensor was very white at bottom. Would this distort reading to ecu? Maybe worth changing if it's never been changed. 21 years is a long time .

Brown wires
Il check later. Yeah I've a rev2 turbo. Pulled spark plugs out yesterday with not even 600 miles on them and they were coated in carbon so cars running rich. So trying to get yo bottom of it, or checking if it's normal. Mods are full decat and exhaust, uprated intercooler, blitz air filter, boost at...

[Mk2] [Turbo] 2 brown wires???
I was hoking about in the engine bay and noticed 2 loose brown wires hanging off the side of the O2 sensor connector. Didn't take off insulation tape to see if it was attached to the connector or not. Does anyone have any idea what these are?

[Mk2] [Turbo] Changing thermostat, drain coolant??

[Mk2] [Turbo] Resistance of ht leads
Does anyone know what resistance my ht leads should be around. I have original 1992 leads. Although they still seem to be doing the job (no misfire ) which still amazes me, it's the only ignition component I haven't changed during my ownership and I'm thinking maybe I should.

Thermostat
Maybe il try the thermostat then. Do I have to remove oil filter to get it out? Also I assume u need to bleed coolant? This is a nightmare for me as the plastic drain plug on top of radiator is broken and I have to use vice grips to open it (one of wings is broken off). If I replace coolant temp sen...

Cheers peter. Can't get into bgb. Have a procedure here for mk1. Take it it's the same?
Is it normal for idle to rise up to normal after pulling plug to icv?
