Re: o2 sensor expert help needed
Cheers guys for all your help. I now have a better understanding of what is going on so will hopefully be able to diagnose the high co better. at least I know the 02 sensor is working OK! I have just found the intake air temp sensor was not installed in the air box and has been floating around in th...

Re: o2 sensor expert help needed
cheers guys this is brilliant info. I have just read the autodata book again and it does say 8 times in 10 seconds  I read it as 8 to 10 times a second! thats very interesing understanding what the voltage on VF1 and E1 means. so my 3v (think it was 2.88 ) means it running slightly r...

Re: o2 sensor expert help needed
Hi Jon, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply with such valable info. I was following the autodata book where it first says to bridge TE1 and E1 then measure the voltage between E1 and VF1. unfortunatly I only have a digital multimeter so was hard to see if it was fluctuating 8 to 10 times a s...

o2 sensor expert help needed
I'm trying to get to the bottom of the high co on my car and I'm using some old autodata books to help me check for things. One of which is testing the o2 sensor by bridging pins on the diagnostic port and measuring the voltage across other pins. If I do this and measure the voltage I'm getting arou...

correct part no. for rev2 na o2 sensor
Does anyone know the correct part number of the o2 sensor for a rev 2 na? I think I need to order a new one but not convinced the old one is the right one so don't want to use that for the part no. that most places seem to want when ordering a new one.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Main fan not cutting in - what to check? non A/C
right, think I have found it. the fan has been fitted back on the wrong side at some point it its life and is connected to the AC connector!
so think thats an easy fix!
just need to get it back from the garage who are trying to find why its failing on emissions.

[Mk2] [NA] Main fan not cutting in - what to check? non A/C
I took my car for an MOT yesterday and was having trouble getting it to pass emissions. while doing this we noticed the engine temp getting very near the red on the gauge and the main rad fan had not kicked in so had to abort the test. I got home and checked the fan by giving it 12v and it was fine....

Re: Relay clicking relative to speed?
I had this exact same issue a few months ago. was driving me mad. a few days with the noise I noticed the trim miles were sticking at 99miles and not going to 100 (thought the MPG was bad!). I reset it and it never came back!

Re: Calipers
how close are they? I changed my pads at the weekend and it looked like the new ones would not fit bit it was due to rust build up behind the stainless steel guides that clip into the caliper. I took these off and cleaned the rust off. Some had built up and stuck on the SS guides too. Once removed t...

Re: Wind noise from tweeter cover in doors
I eventually picked up the new part at Toyota. It had been there for ages despit me going in twice to see where it was but they had it under the wrong name! Do that many people really order that part to not figure what had happened! booked a test drive in a GT86 so not a waist of time! Got it switch...

Re: wierd problem with gearbox
it sounds like you could have clutch drag to me. Does the gear engagement feel normal when the engine is switched off?
I'd be checking the slave and master cylinder for leaks before a gearbox

Re: Frozen windscreen... On the inside...
Ive gone a bit pingi mad and my car doesnt even leak! I got them to prevent any moisture at all damaging and aging the inside so there are two 450g ones in the inside cabin, a 250g one in the boot (hopefully help keep the ECU nice and dry) and another 250g one in the frunk. do I hold the MR2 pingi r...

Black painted sills on a UM MK2 rev
Do you know if black paint (stone protection type stuff) along the bottom of the sills is standard fitment to UK MK2 rev2's? I've looked at google images and some have it fitted and some don't. Is it a sign the sills have been worked on before and as sill issues are so common many MR2's have a simil...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Something that has baffled me since ownership
I used to have a celica GT4 (st165) and it used to make a stange noise for a few seconds the first time you pulled away after it had sat somewhere for a while, it sounds like an electric pump noise to me more than an air noise. the car could be ticking ofer for ages and not make the noise but it wou...
