Re: Problem finding the oil leak.

Thanks for the concern, but I am more scared of the bill from the local garage than spending two evenings figuring out how to do it myself :P

They charge 95£/hr, and considering how rare the AW11 is here, they wont have any experience working on them either.

Re: Problem finding the oil leak.

Just never have worked on any engine "internals" before, scares the c**p out of me. I know that you cant really screw up these engines, but it still scares me :S

How long do it take to change them considering the lack of experience? 3hours or so?

Re: Problem finding the oil leak.

Oh, was going to mention that but forgot about it :P

I bought a new seal for the dizzy, but when i got to the garage to change it I could not find any oil around the distributor.

I am afraid it might be the cam sealings, so really hoping for something else.

Problem finding the oil leak.

Hi again. Still suffering from oil leaks, i have changed the head cover gaskets, but still leaking. It seems that the rear right part of the engine gets covered, and i can find partly dried oil all the way up to the head covers. Seemed to be more fresh oil from a component under the air intake, but ...

Re: manual choke switch?

I havent really had a good look at that slot, but i suspect that switches from oldish opel/vauxhall should fit, i know the Omega is full of recyangular switches. Alternatively, most trucks like Scania, Volvo an that sort have a bunch of rectangular switches that might fit. Ask the local scrapyard if...

Re: Sucking in snow when driving.

Should think so Cecil.

I think i`ll find some foam at work to make the filter, just need to find some with the right texture to it so that air may pass.

Re: Sucking in snow when driving.

Thinking about it, I can't understand how your getting snow inside the car :? The outside air has to pass through the heater matrix before it gets distributed around the car, the matrix is (or should be) hot and it's fairly obstructive (same as a radiator) so how is the snow managing to get past it...

Re: Sucking in snow when driving.

Thanks for the answers guys. Jimi: Problem with recirculating is that you also recirculate the moist in the air(which also accumulates from breathing), thus the windows get foggy anyway. Peter: Must be missing that piece of foam then, maybe put in a mosquito instead, should stop the worst snow at le...

Sucking in snow when driving.

Hi again folks. Finally the snow arrived, and a unforeseen problem comes up. When i start the blower it sucks snow into the car, spitting it out at quite high speed and hitting me straight in the face. It is a really annoying issue as the car gets damp and windows gets foggy. Of course there is also...

Re: RC AW11 Bodys ! I Read, somone was looking for one ! ....

Got one of those Goose chassis with the aw11 body. Have come so far as cutting most pieces out. The body looks pretty good if you take your time to cut it precisely, only drawback i have found is that with the stock gears, you cannot lower the body even with the chassis. Bought it as a shelf model, ...

Re: how to remove door cards

Have not broken any clips yet. Three screw to remove, one on the door handle and two hidden under round covers, they are easy to find. If the window lift is manual, it may be a bit tricky to remove the handle, the toyota manual i got tells to use a piece of cloth to pop the locking pin out, but a th...

Re: Formula atlantic 4A-GE for sale, brand new.

Not just a huge pile of money but the ability to swallow a lot of pride when a more powerful non 4a-ge'd version goes sailing past. Having a 4age in that state of tune for that sort of money does nothing for me. A 2gr'd or lightly tuned 3s-gte version will kill that in every dept for half the cost....

Re: Formula atlantic 4A-GE for sale, brand new.

I guess the biggest problem, besides the price, is to service it, from what i found over on another forum the engine rebuild interval was about 200miles. It supposedly eats crankshaft bearings for breakfast, and at a cost of 5300$ at toysport, a crank failure is expensive enough. Used just for spri...

Formula atlantic 4A-GE for sale, brand new.

Not my sale obviously, would have made a trackday car with it instantly.

Must be serious fun/difficult to drive, probably raise a couple of eyebrows too :)

I think it ended up at 200 canadian dollars, but he told me that he paid closer to 320 for it so it might get more expensive.

Re: MK1a master brake cylinder inner diameter.

Yep it`s the rebuild kit, brand new pistons, springs and seals. I am kind of scared of what the price for a new cylinder might be around here, prices is typically quite steep. Have never found rubber gloves very abrasive - wet and dry will do a better job... [Laughing] Hehe, i regret the way i put t...

I`ll see if i can find both, i guess using some rubber gloves and brake fluid for the wet sanding should be ok then.

MK1a master brake cylinder inner diameter.

Hi again,

Gonna change the piston just over new year(if i can find someone to help out :P), and thinking i should hone the cylinder. Anyone know the inner diameter?

Need to know to select the proper ball/flexi honing tool.

Oh, and a belated Merry christmas to you all :-)

Thank
Kim

Re: Look what I just found...

I would not consider a fiberglass replacement for road use, might be that it is good for track tough.

Jedd: I think you should expect 2weeks production +1week delivery on those panels, but they look very good. Will try to get them fitted this winter.
