Re: [FINALIZED] Black 1994 L Rev 3 Turbo

The current MOT expires March 25th.
I'll PM my number, call me if you want to arrange a viewing, today is ok for me, just need a bit of notice to give it a once over with a sponge.

Black 1994 L Rev 3 Turbo

After collecting my boring company car a couple of days ago, its time to sell my Rev 3 Turbo. :( The car was imported in 2005, I was the 2nd UK owner and have owned the car just under a year. The only items I have had to replace were things I knew about when I bought it, like a control arm and a the...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Showcase Sports Cars

I went there a couple of years ago but was put off by the price. At the time they had a Rev 5 NA in silver and black on an S plate and were asking £10,000 for it, I found a V plate one in the end for £7500! Do you mind me asking what you paid for yours? They did have some very nice cars there thoug...

I got one once through the insurance glass thing where you pay the excess, like if your windscreen goes.
Might be worth a look if you're fully comp.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] 16" Tyre Advice

It may be the 205 aspect you're not getting on with, it'll make the steering seem like less work is required to steer, smaller turn means larger action if that makes sense. :-k Closest size to stock with 16" rims is 225/45/16 on the back but a 195/45/16 on the front. Have had mine on 205 front ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] wheel and tyre question

The best offset for an MK2 is about 30 on the front and 35 on the rear (for standard suspension and no bodykit anyway).
Agree with tyre size too, 235 seems a little wide for a 7J rim. :thumleft:

Re: [All] [Generic] What does 'a valve has gone' mean?

Not sure about what work would be involved in a valve having gone but in my experience head gasket failure was due to an overheating engine which can be caused by many factors. On the MK2 golf I have experience of, it was simply a wire to the engine fan which had disconnected itself and caused the e...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Anyone know where I can get some valves?

Cheers for your help guys but am sorted now. :thumleft: The guy in the tyre fitting place said he could get some for a tenner each but I found a company called Auto4 (01623) 441800 who did them for £2.91 each! They were the all aluminium ones too, not the black plastic type. I also needed different ...

You can get Falken 451's in 205/45/16 and 452's in 225/45/16, thats what I've just done on mine.
Am quite happy with the results so far :thumleft:

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] how many 17" rims can I fit in a mk2..

I have had 5 17" rims with no tyres in my 2 before. I had 2 in the boot, 2 on the passenger seat and 1 in the passenger footwell, the boot even closed properley with 2 in there! 4 wheels with tyres can also be done, 2 in the boot, this time tie the spoiler to the tow hook, other 2 wheels on the...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Remove rust off under strut suspension brace; treat? powder coat?

I made the mistake of stripping the paint on the 1st set I had done as there was no difference in price when I didn't strip the 2nd set. I think this is because I had stripped them but they need a really good starting point before coating, so even though they were stripped they still needed shot bla...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Remove rust off under strut suspension brace; treat? powder coat?

I find powder coating generally very cheap, I got four split rim centres blasted and powder coated for £15 per wheel at Metal Magic in Barnsley. Metal Magic are wheel specialists really, there are loads of companies that just do powder coating, I feel this is your best option as it will hold its fin...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Showcase Sports Cars

It wasn't by any chance the 1996 N reg goodwood green GT T bar, with 44000 miles and FSH which was up for sale for £4995 but is now sold, was it? If it was then it looks very nice, but if that was what you paid in my opinion you could have found a lot more car for your money elsewhere. Having siad t...

[Mk2] [Generic] Anyone know where I can get some valves?

I am currently refurbishing a set of wheels for my MR2 and need to source some new valves for them. I have been told that they are an odd size as they are Japanese and the place that took the tyres off for me doesn't stock them. Have also been in the local motor factors and they didn't have any eith...
